Hello gang! I have just joined the lucky ones of you going out. Well paid up anyway. Very much looking forward to it. Keeps my boss happy as well, at least I won't be sulking for two weeks not having any ski plans I live in Bristol and would prefer to fly from there, how many others are? |
How rude of me, forgot the introductions:
Me: Pim, male, 34, born in The Netherlands (ok Holland from now) live in Bristol
My sticks: pair of worn out Nordica Afterburners, also used to ride in the past and keep threatening to try again
Attitude: try to ski whatever is in front of my feet (as long as there's no metal or rock involved)
SH outings: first date!
Pay someone to ski with: only if it's worth it. Prepared to invest in avi gear if there's a few of us knowing how to use it (and can remind me)

All these guy boarders coming out of the closet... great stuff!
oldscool, grinningsoul, Welcome to s
Ok.. stats... (this is going to be painful...)
Female, skier, 42 until Monday and then I'll be 21 again..
Ability level: Was OK intermediate, have dodgy legs which means sometimes I'm great and sometimes I suck (ok, so I'm lying about being great.. but lets gloss over that bit).
SH Bashes to date: S5BB, EoSB09, S6BB, S7BB
Skis: Currently Scott Mayas... looking to go shopping and add to the quiver.
Looking forward to meeting so many bash-virgins (and guy boarders). The best bit is that since so many are new, they're bound to all start off thinking I'm quite normal and sane.

Richie rich1, Hi Richard
Thanks for the offer. I travel quite light just my board bag, Small holdall and a back pack so if you
can fit me in I'd be most grateful.
Looking forward to it now

I'm 39, male, tall dark and handsome....ooops wrong forum
I'm a boarder (refuse to say guy boarder, its just wrong)
early intermediate, off-piste, jumps and piste is what I enjoy. not so much BC - too much hard work and not enough board time.
riding a Ride Society UL w/ cartels.
This would be my first sH bash but 7th trip on the slopes.
Noticed quite a few peeps in N. London maybe we could pool for a minivan? I'm in Turnpike Lane.

I'm an intermediate skier on Scott Missions, age 45, and live just North of Bristol.
I started skiing five years ago. This will be my eleventh week, but my first snowHeads outing.
I have avi kit but haven't seen any powder since I bought it last season, so fingers crossed for snow.

What's the average age of the people going on this trip? I'm not ageist but it'd be useful to know! And do you have the details of the return transfer times yet?
Cheers.

I'm thinking my board could do with a wax and edge. Should I get it done before we go or do you think I should just get it done when we arrive?

I intend to get my board waxed on the Sunday afternoon we arrive, but if you know any decent places near you then it's probably best to go there beforehand since it'll likely be cheaper than in the resort.

Hi everyone,
Looks like I'm the old git then!
Being the wrong side of 60 means I can't remember how many years I've been at it, but its been a few on and off.
I'm a guy skier by the way, and I do mean guy.......Hrrrumph!
It's always difficult to know how well you ski but I suppose I would class myself as a reasonably fit on piste skier and although I will try most things the old knees don't take to kindly to the bumps or crud.
I'm an Englishman living in Mid-Wales and flying out of Liverpool with my friend "blaenbryno" (who's an even older git than me!)
Looking forward to meeting you all and some good skiing.
Roger

admin, I'm still dithering as to whether to book this! Will the transfer back get into Grenoble in time for the 10.35am flight to Stansted?
|

Singerjulie Most of us are on the 10.50 flight to Luton - so if not, you could fly back to Luton and then use the airport transfer bus to get back to Stansted. Lorraine

I'm getting closer and closer to booking this, but I'm just trying to work out if I can feasibly fly from Luton instead of Stansted as that seems to be the popular choice - Gainz, if I drive to Luton, would you be up for sharing the cost if I pick you up (I'm in East London)? Parking costs around £35 for the week so it'd be less than twenty quid each between us...

For those of you wishing to get to Luton - IF trains run early enough for you to get down to Luton Parkway Station there are then shuttle buses every 10 mins, which if booked with your rail ticket only costs £1, to get you to the airport.

lgtramp, , unfortunately trains trains from st. Pancras to Luton Airport are looking pretty useless for that morning. There is one arriving at 2:17 and the next one gets in at 6:48 which is a wee bit late.

hi guys, yeah the train's no good for our flight leaving luton, the only public transport option is bus, national express run through the night every 20 mins from victoria and cost £8 one way (takes just over an hour). i live in islington (angel side) and would be up for sharing a lift and the cost of fuel and airport parking if we could come to some kind of arrangement re. pick-ups. am hiring skis and boots in-house so will only have one bag. no worries either way, but would be cool to hook up an get to the airport together if poss... dan

So it's just three of us from Bris (Jenniecook, Duke and myself)? Was considering adding in some confusion by suggesting hiring a car or a taxi transfer for late arrivers but with just three of us I guess I better start looking at Ben's... Are there any others coming into Grenoble on Sunday around 2/3pm local?

I would love to join this trip but I would have to come home on Thurs 31/3 . I can get a flight to Grenoble on Sunday from either Luton or Stansted but there are no Thursday flights from Grenoble to either Luton or Stansted. However, I can get back to Stansted from Geneva - which is fine if I can work out how to get from Tignes to Geneva airport.
So, questions...
Admin - would staying Sunday - Weds nights be feasible?
Everyone Else How do I get from Tignes to Geneva airport on Thurs 31/3?

Red Leon, Nice one. It would be worth sending admin a PM with the question as he's away on the SOPi Bash at the moment. I doubt he's getting much chance to read threads so it will ensure he gets the message. I'm guessing it will be possible though so fingers crossed.

Hey Robert,
indeed it still appears to be. (and probably will be until full, or until date of departure...).
The latest one could join the group would be
up to admin to decide, but it sems he is away on holiday and so unlikely this week to be on the forum much....

For everyone on the early flight and booking taxis etc, remember that British Summer Time starts on the Sunday we fly out, so you get even less sleep than you expected the Saturday night! May be worth reminding the cab company of this to check which 5am they are going to turn up at

|
|
|

robert read, yes it is.
Red Leon, not only can you leave on Thursday but I can charge you £55 less for doing so
Similarly, if anyone else wants to leave on Thurs or before, the price is £190 instead of £245.
