Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wanted - Skiing companion for winter sports

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ah comprex, there speaks the folly of youth Madeye-Smiley It so happens that I was fortunate enough to find a companion such as DG is seeking (although not tall enough for him) to share some holidays, and she is a boarder Laughing

Maybe I should rewrite my requirements now that we are on the 5th page of this entertainment................................ Let me see

Ok I'm looking for a companion who would like to go skiing (or boarding) in Wengen, Switzerland during the first 2 weeks (approximately dates not finalised yet)

This is because I've discoverd that I usually ski better when I'm skiing with someone rather than on my own, also I'd like to have someone to talk to during dinner etc.

Now having tried this with my friends a couple of times I have decided that female company is much nicer than male.... no really Shocked

The ideal candidate would be a single female looking for a nice holiday location, they should ideally be anything from early intermediate to advanced skier who would be happy cruising long blue runs (easy standard) or going fast down fairly steep blacks (hard)

I'm not going to pay for you, though I may buy drinks or lunches from time to time as I do for all my friends, I will however get a very good deal on hotel accomodation (separate rooms) in the 3 star Hotel Alpenrose, depending on who's on duty I may also be able to get a good deal on ski and boot hire if you need it.

I'd prefer it if you were a non smoker, non vegetarian, social drinker i.e glass or two of wine at dinner maybe a few after dinner drinks, for my own ego it would be great if you were also tall, good looking intelligent, attractive and between 20 and 30 years old but I'm always prepared to compromise for the right person.

Once again please note that this position is offered to females only, if I wanted to go with another male I'd ask one of my existing friends to join me

As I have been informed I am only allowed to post the "tweaked" form of my ad, I can privately email you the original. I am very excited! I have never been to France: perhaps we can do Courchevel? Or you can come to the US and do Colorado (I *hated* Winter Park/Mary Jane and it is NOT appropriate for our age group. Everyone is either 20 years older or younger than us, and they automatically pigeon-holed me as a "yuppie".) or Sun Valley, CA. Please post if you are serious. I would LOVE Very Happy to find someone who meets my criteria! All of my criteria are possible and have been said to be very fair/ non-hypocritical. Also on the dcski.com page someone even said I am basically paying for everything I am asking for.

D G Orf, I fit all your criteria except

Although I must say the hot chocolate I had in St Mortiz was *to die for*!

Masque, I think you are over-imaginative in your ideas of me. The whole point was to avoid sleeping with someone and any freaky behavior (you must not have read the original ad). My legs get sore after skiing so I wanted to give and get an apres-ski massage. When you walk from an outdoor jacuzzi back to the lodge you are cold and there are standard techniques for aiding a person with hypothermia including being close to another warm body. So I included the option of snuggling by the fireplace in exchange for the requirement of "keep me warm". I think you will be thoroughly disappointed when you read my posting. The slave thing was because, due to a car accident I have a disc herniation in my back, which in conjunction with being 100lbs, it is very difficult for me to lift heavy objects. Slaves are often depicted as hot males with lots of muscles (often scantily clad, which goes with my jacuzzi perk/speedo req) doing physical labor. The definition in the US includes "drudge, toiler" which is the effect of someone of my unfortunate physical condition's idea of lugging skis around, but doesn't seem to be a problem for people of normal/non-disabled health.

However maybe you'd prefer bootneck ? Crying or Very sad

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge nowhere in Wengen has an outdoor jacuzzi Sad , though there are indoor pools, sauna's and so on at some of the other hotels which are available to non guests at those hotels, the Alpenrose does however have a nice open log fire Cool

These North Americans.... Wink ... funnily enough the French are being dragged into the 21st century by our Canadian cousins, we now have outside jacuzzis at Arc 1950 in the new Intrawest development. That said, there's a hot tub outside a British pub in Meribel as well, I seem to remember...

Ski_Mistress, My dear, what makes you think that a moderately (or is that morally) damaged, skanky old refugee boarder like me would meet any of your ‘requirements’. Dream on girl, though I do look better than Fuxup (WTFH) in black tie, but then I even look better than him on skis.

Well I'd say the Slalom course down to Innerwengen is fairly steep and black, as is the end of the Lauberhorn run and Gummi Nord, then over at Murren thyere's the run down from Piz Gloria and the Gun Barrel and I seem to recal there being the odd steepish black over at First I'll ignore Oh God and Black Rock as they only get nasty if they freeze over Laughing

Elizabeth B, I think Gummi Nord is the steepest but it's also the shortest and probably the narrowest, the end of the Lauberhorn is a couple of degrees steeper than the slalom and is usually more icy, as for the others no not quite as steep but they could still give you problems

DG - Be careful what you wish for, it may just come true!

I would stick with skiing with blokes if I were you. In my experience, skiing with female friends is a recipe for disaster unless they are of the same standard as you, if not then you just get the blame every time they fall over for taking them down something that is "too steep".

Before everyone jumps down my throat, I'm not saying that I dislike skiing with women, just that if you ski with a female companion who is not as good as you, it is much the same scenario as trying to teach them to drive, and about as successful.

From bitter experience I now prefer to go skiing alone or with friends who I know that can ski. If I absolutely have to take a girlfriend with me, then unless she is a confident intermediate, she goes in ski school.

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
Kramer, I've never had any problems skiing with anyone of any standard, when I went with my friends we went for a month, they had had exactly 3 lessons of 2 hours each, by the 2nd day they were skiing happily on red runs and by the end of the week they were confident enough and skilled enough to attempt almost any of the runs including the blacks the only extra teaching they had was what I taught them, I've also skied with women before and never once have I had a complaint about where I went on the skis, I adjust my skiing to suit my companions, I do not expect them to have to ski to suit me

Kramer, I used to date a girl who wasn't a confident intermediate. I would NEVER suggest that she had to go to the ski school. She wasn't the same standard as me.
