First trip to COurmayeur for the winter. Getting on the first lift (Dolonne Telecabine), long maze to keep people apart. Automated scanner for your super green pass, looks like a retenal scanner, but you hold your phone, printed QR code in front of it. This was just in fron to the pass turnstile. A couple of security peole making sure you got a green light.
Every cafe on the mountain scanning green pass for everyone, think they have to keep records of who has visited.

Masks required on any gondolas/lifts? How busy in general?

They were already set up for last weeks holiday period. That along with the automated scanners, should be ok.

Green AFAIK - The resturants are visited by ski tourers (and snowshoers inthe case of Zerotta) hence the need to scan people.

Thanks Idris. Great info. I'm keeping an eye on how things go through Christmas week. Still hoping to make a late January week in the Dolomites. Any updates from those who are there are much appreciated.

We’re just in the Dolomites, masks on gondolas but not very well policed. They are limiting numbers in lifts etc.
‘Some’ on piste huts asking for green pass, which is just your nhs qr code, all pretty straightforward. Today though there was a spot check in the mountain hut by police, we had to show nhs plus photo ID to make sure they matched.
Ski pass very easy to validate daily.

You know it makes sense.

Flight out…. No checks on vaccine, lateral flow, plf. But maybe it’s already matched up in the ‘system’ with your passport number…. Maybe not.

Seems to refer to EU arrivals so UK arrivals the same. Pre departure test still required.

"For those arriving from the UK and northern Ireland, the Italian health ministry’s ordinance stated that molecular (PCR) tests must now be taken within the 48 hour period before departure instead of 72 hours and rapid antigen (LFT) tests in the 24 hours before arrival, instead of 48 as was previously the case."

Has anyone travelled to Italy , the Dolomites via Innsbruck very recently or is about to do so? Would be interested to learn if there are any checks at the boarder as Italian regulations seem to be quite different to those for Austria. Thanks in anticipation.

@peter w, Italian regulations are changing this week. Negative test required on arrival from all eu countries. Not sure about uk, as I’ve not looked at detail. It was only announced last night (Tue 14 Dec) and apparently comes into force on Thursday (16 Dec), not sure what time from. Worth checking with your carrier and also Italian gvt website, Italian embassy in London etc for detail.

Didn't see anythinging in Courmayeur, or Morgex, just boxes of the regular (non) surgical masks on the shelves....but I wasn't searching for them.

@rinky75, enjoy your trip, same experience as us for entering Italy. The emphasis is on the airlines checking everything re Covid and it's just a normal passport check.

I'm a new member and appreciate all the great information. We are still planning to go to the Dolomites, basing in Ortisei, right after Christmas. I know that we're all speculating about trips a few weeks out, but is anyone there now who can report in? Any feedback on how CV is affecting daily activities there? Are mountain restaurants open? We know that the area has been in the "Yellow" zone for a while. Does it seem likely that "Orange" is on the horizon? News reporting makes it seems as if the South Tyrol is a hotspot best to be avoided. Thank you

Update to my earlier message. Ski pass office accepted the NHS email confirming both kids tested positive as proof of recovery.
Food wise, not much open around 4 - needed early food but dragon hotel - right by nursery slope - also accepted so we all ate indoors.
Town seems very quiet but so far been relatively stress free.

@DPL, We’re staying in Selva now & the mountain restaurants are all open as normal, most ask to see a Vax cert & the NHS one has worked every time, they are very apologetic & polite about asking.
Ski lift guys are reminding people to put on masks but more relaxed on uncovered lifts, some places insist on the FFP2 masks so wise to carry one around. We have picked up a Dolomites ski buff which has an insert slot to put in a mask which we use on the lifts but ski bus will only allow you on with FFP2 mask.
Bars & restaurants are currently staying open through the evening so it’s all as normal as can be.
This week is obviously quieter being early season, guess lift queues may be longer next week with 80% limit on covered lift/gondolas, so glad we came.

Looked like random checks getting onto Cervinia base gondola this morning. We weren’t asked.

Does anyone know whether we need to fill in passenger locator form for the country entering when skiing across border line, e.g. from Italy to Switzerland, or would it be sufficient to just have the vaccine status QR code?
