Cool, where are you staying?
We went last year at the end of March/beginning of April and had terrible snow conditions. This time it should be epic!

No tips, not stayed at these apartments before. We stayed at the Niege et Ciel last year and that was good. I read some of the reviews about the place and as it's the first self catering ski holiday I've ever been on, I was a little worried.... Don't like the idea of cleaning myself and having to lug towels on a plane!
I don't think there is the nightlife in Les Men like some of the other resorts, but because we've stayed in hotels before, it didn't really matter. Will probably go out a couple of evenings, but as we're 40, we won't be giving it large!

From Hameau des Airelles there is only one lift (Tortelet) to reach the ski area. And this lift can be quite busy at the rush hours. In March you can wait in the earlymorning sunshine and make your plans for the day.

I know you're not about for a while, but does this mean we would be better off getting the bus to La Croisette rather than skiing down to the bottom of that lift? We were there late March last year and it didn't seem too bad, but might have been because it was later in the season....

It depends on the time you start skiing. Between 9-10 it will be busy.

A beautiful spring day, clear blue sky and a maximum temperature of about +10 degrees.
In two weeks time the snowlayer has deflated by 40-50 cm. The snow is hard in the early morning and a little slushy during the rest of the day. In Mottaret/Méribel and Courchevel
it was busy on the the pistes but the waiting times for the main lifts were not more than 5 minutes.

The weather is changing. The April like conditions of last week will change the next two days. The sunshine was less clear and there was a lot a haze in the air. The snow conditions on the pistes are very variable. The time of the day, north or south slopes and the altitude are the variables to cope with to find your favorite piste.

All kinds of real winter weather with low temperatures, light snowfall, mist and wind.
Only a few very short sunny spells. Temperature at 3000 meter - 9 degrees. Between 5-10 cm fresh snow depending on the alltitude. To be outside was not a pleasure, but skiing skiing in fresh snow compensates a lot.

It was sunny and cold today. The springlike conditions of the last week are over and it is winter again. Most of the pistes are hard, but with the fresh snow the overall conditions are great.

Getting excited now, off on Saturday. The weather looks like it might warm up a bit, hopefully not too much though.

Sunny with some high clouds during the afternoon. A bit warmer temperatures.
This week is the last week of the fourth week period of French school holidays and is generally viewed as the time in the season when the slopes are most crowded and the lift lines are long. But there are a lot of the slopes that are relatively un-crowded. Moreover the school holidays of the other European countries are over now.

A miserable day! Snowfall, wind, mist, low temperatures and a lot of icy patches on the slopes. All parameters for for skiing were negative except the waiting queues for the lifts. Perhaps it was a good day for walking on the raquettes?
Tomorrow a period for at least a week begins was sunshine and high(er) temperatures.

The blue sky was back again. It was still cold at higher altitudes, but at 1500 meter the snow was soft. After the snowfall of yesterday there were some new possibilities to ski off-piste in 10 cm fresh snow.

Beautiful weather, quiet pistes and on most pistes lovely snow. It is great skiing around and looking at the long queue of cars that want to enter Val Thorens.
The local news of the last days was dominated by the road closure to Tignes and Val d’Isère and the big fire of last night in Méribel 1600 which destroys the upper part of a apartment building. About 80 cubic meters of rock came down and blocked the road for nearly 24 hours. Both accidents have only material damage and nobody was hurt. Read more details in the local newspaper Dauphine Libere.

The temperature today was too high, although the sun was less intense due to the thin high clouds. If the rest of this week this weather continues, then the snow will deflate more then we want. At certain small places, even at 3000 meter, the bare rock becomes visible. Since three nights the snowcanons are running to replenish the lost snow.

It is the time for suncream with a high protection factor. After the a cold January, a busy February it now the time for relaxed skiing. Most pistes still have good snow. Only the lower pistes are slushy. There was a light wind at higher altitudes and the temperature at 3000 meter was just above zero.

It cost a lot of force to ski in the wet snow. Even at night the temperature drops only to +5 degree. And during the day the temperature rises to 12 degrees at 2000 meter. All pistes still have enough snow and at the end of the day some minor patches without snow appeared.

Just got back from an awesome week. Yes, the temperatures were a little on the high side, but still didn't stop us enjoying ourselves. Never did get to the Folie Douce! A bit annoyed as an out of control Russian put pay to our apres ski beverage yesterday by wiping out my 13-year-old daughter. I was so very angry, and not just about missing out on the beer! Ended up in the medical centre and quite a lot of money lighter for the privilege.
Anyway, can't wait to go back... Maybe end of April for hubby's 40th birthday, but we shall see.
Now I shall go through your pics 123_456, see if I can spot myself!
