This is a great thread, isn't it great that so many of us have kept our early photos to be able to scan them in? However, as has been noted I bet the most obvious difference in these early shots is the lack of helmets - how things change. I only wish I hadn't missed the intervening 10 years - I'd be skiing anything by now if I'd kept at it.

I've been digging and have found a 1st or second week photo. Just need to get the scanner fired up.

Omigod, I've just found one of me in the Dolomites in 1979 - navy all-in-one (not my current one - I'm a creature of habit!) fur hat and bumbag. Unfortunately (or fortunately...) I don't have a scanner. Maybe I'll lend it to Rob when I see him tomorrow and he can scan it in/post it up for me...

Hurtle, I hope it doesn't turn out to be a fur trapper hat

holidayloverxx, no, it's a sort of bonnet, made out of grey squirrel (pest, therefore tolerable in my book.) My mother had a stole thingy, which she'd had since the 1930s I think, and which someone cut up and made the hat out of, plus a 'feather' boa (except it was fur) that looked rather stylish with a long dress. The whole lot got infested with moth some time in the early 80s, so I was forced, rather sadly, to throw them away. Bloody hell, the things one wore...

I realise that this is pathetic in the extreme but I can't work out how to post a picture here. Help someone?

Whew! I doubt if this will ever replace Facebook as far as posting pictures goes.
But here is me on day 4 of my first ever week on skis just five short years ago. Note the fashionable garb and the elegant style......

Bogusman, bonus points for sure as it was only 5 years ago and you weren't in a fancy dress competition. What was your excuse??

cathy, sherlock235, My excuse was that I had no idea whether I was going to like all this cold slidey stuff so I borrowed as much as I could. Bought my own stuff after that trip though. On a slightly serious note, whatever the fashion crime, that was by a country mile the most comfortable outfit I ever wore on the piste.

It won't challenge the front runners but I found another one with me (yet again in a one-piece). Aged 19 I think, on the first ski trip I paid for myself, out of student grant (which soon became student overdraft).

I had a baggy white shirt at the time which I loved. My Dad referred to it as my Big Girl's Blouse. Is it any wonder I didn't go home to visit when I first went to university?

It's like therapy for me.
Big credit for getting a Kajagoogoo joke in. Not often we see that on snowHeads.
