it's all coming back.... noooooo.....
one of SZK's henchmen sorted me out last year. I came down two shell sizes and it took three seperate stretches to get them from painfully tight to damn snug. They are amazingly quick edge-to-edge though....

SZK
will WAFH need to come back to have the boots checked as they settle with use or will just adjusting the clips take out any change.

ntfarmer, plenty of room to adjust the clips, but I guess if I had to go to Chamonix for a weekend later this season, or early next, that would be a hardship I'd have to put up with!
toiletduckuk, Chamonix is not too far from Morzine. As for judging shoe size, it helps if the zookeeper/bootfitter has had a beer or three first...

OK, here is the update...
On Friday I had my first day of the season on snow. And the first day in my new boots. I spent most of the day skiing with three amazing characters: Erik Timmerman, Robin Barnes and Stu Campbell. They are all top instructors, but we were just free-skiing together. Robin stopped at one point and asked me if I had my alignment checked recently, because she thought it might have been a bit out.
I said it was my first day on snow and my first day in the new boots, so I suspected it might have been technique, rather than equipment.
But, given what she knows about skiing, I took her advice on board and called in to see Benny Wax at Inner Bootworks in Stowe - his shop is between the Stoweflake (where I was staying) and the skiing. His team is considered one of the best in the US, so I was happy to call in to see them.
Because the boots were new, and I was starting to get used to them, I thought it was possible that my alignment could be out.
Anyway, he looked at my boots, then laser aligned me (ok, probably not a laser, but a very fine point of red light), which he used to see if my knees were aligned properly when I was standing and when I was flexed.
The conclusion? Well, if I was to spend several days with him, he might alter the boots by a tiny fraction, but it would be very small, and he would prefer not to make the change at all, as it wouldn't really be worth it.
His exact words were "you are aligned pretty much perfect".
He's not known for complimenting other bootfitters, but after seeing my set up, and that there was nothing he would do to improve on it, he then wanted to know who did the fitting, where, everything.
So, SZK, you can be pleased to hear that Benny Wax thinks you did an excellent job.
...and what do I think?
Well, by Sunday afternoon, I started to tweak one of the bindings down a little, as the boots were starting to feel like extensions of my legs/feet.
Oh, and you never told me how WARM they are!
In conclusion, THANK YOU SZK.

bladeskier, I was told by SZK that you are better just leaving the liners in, and washing the lot.
|
|
|
|

|
I was told by Kramer just to leave the liners & boots in your ski bag under the bed with all your washing, and worry about it the next time you want to go skiing.

bladeskier, out of interest, which boots did SZK sort you out with?
