Yep, we're teaching ourselves to snowboard on the nursery slopes in Oz instead because the magic carpet is running. Great fun! |
We had the same on Good Friday - gutted we couldn't explore the domain on our last day, everyone's confidence was high, but had to take the most of things so nursery slope it was. Did hike up the red run a few times but was knackered.
Looks like the snow has returned overnight so those there this week should have a wonderful time.

But early for the 2025 thread so thought I would ask here
What’s the traffic like on the A48 onwards on transfer days, specifically half term week. We’re used to the chaos of the N90 but hope it will be a bit quieter
Also in resort is there any where to park for a the day as I suspect we will get into resort before we can get into our apartment car park so may need to park up somewhere.

The main pinch point is the local road from S of Grenoble to Bourg d’Oisans, the D1091. It can be slow, especially early Saturday morning (local skiers) but it isn’t long. The motorway is usually ok, but can be a bit congested in Grenoble coming past the A41 junction. There is a lot of day parking in A d’H especially in the Bergers area.

Anyone have any comments on the kids ski schools in Alpe D'Huez? Last time we used ESF and it was good although we lucked out as the guy they got was an English guy. Looking this year ESF are only doing lessons from 9-11:30 so looking at others, Prosneige also look quite good and are 9-12 each day which is better as it gives us more chance of getting out as well.

I’m asking here because I couldn’t find a thread for 2024/2025. I need to purchase ski passes for a week in December. Is there any chance of finding discounts if I wait?
or there is not a reason at all to wait...

I don’t know of any discounts for a week. The season pass discount bought before the 1st October is substantial, but that’s probably no help to you. There is a regular poster on here who I think works for the lift operator company, maybe he can enlighten us?

@turms2, I think the only time i can remember they might have been discounted was when there was no, or very little snow in December. If you are going early December I think they are a little bit cheaper than "normal" weeks as some of the satellite villages are not connected.
I think @Petere, is right but @Alpinebear, is the man he is referring to.

Given that lift passes can be a big chunk of money buy them just before you go and save the money in your bank account and make a few £ interest to reduce the cost.
Only discounts I think are for family passes where you can save a bit

@turms2, Just depends how many ski passes you are after, if you are a family etc.
If you are 3 adults you could buy the TRIBU Pass which works out at 300 euros each for 6 days
If you are a family of at least 4 (2 adults and 2 children(5-22yo)) the pass is cheaper again.
Here is the link to buy in advance. Remember you can recharge any old ski passes you have which start with 01-

All the webcams I usually look at seem to have been offline since yesterday, so does anybody know how much snow fell at different heights overnight please?

Meteo France says 30 to 40 cm of windblown snow. One of the weather stations says 35cm of depth at 2100 meters altitude.

Oops! I was surprised that every webcam seemed to be down at the same time, but that would explain it. I hope it's not too hard to fix.

It will be interesting to hear more if/when you get a chance.
By the way, I realise I posted my question on the 23/24 topic. I couldn't find a 24/25 - has anyone created it yet? [Edit: Sorry, I've just noticed it's already there at https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=170471 and I've even posted on it myself a month ago.]

Thanks, yes I see that too now. Looks a touch disappointing from the pictures. Maybe it's different on the ground, or perhaps I was overly optimistic!
