Nothing extra this morning.
Was on Snowdon yesterday with a buddy, doing the metoffice ground conditions report for mountain forecast.
Nothing to write about really, snow has slipped North Wales, winds so high there was little drifting or build up in hollows on Lee slopes as the windy simply blew it all away- probably landed in the borders haha

There is a post in the FB Ground Conditions group for Pen Y Fan. Looks skiable in parts...
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Anyone giving pen-y-fan a go tomorrow before the rain sets in?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Heavy wet snow overnight and this morning in Snowdonia, current state of play is - cant see the summits due to cloud bases at circa 600m, so anything could being going on, but forecast suggest that the summits will still be getting snow down to circa 900m over the next few days and into early next week, so anything is possible, fingers crossed, otherwise I'm all for a quick road trip to Scotland next week.....
Did anyone get up Pen y Fan in the end? Gutted to miss the last powder dump
Next week looks promising though!

Had my first welsh skiing experience today in the Beacons - pleased to have my knees intact and delighted to have had an adventure in springter.
On arrival just before dawn there was about 1-2cm at storey arms car park. Walk up was 2cm and pretty wind scoured, I went via corn ddu and it was nearly impossible to walk along the top with fat skis on the back acting like a sail.
The skiing was fun, mainly because I wasn’t the only nutter up there- nice to briefly meet you for an agricultural ski! In reality I managed a couple of turns on a couple of runs down the east side of corn ddu before calling it a day as it just wasn’t quite enough depth to overcome the grip of the grass underneath. Managed to ski most of the way back on the beacon motorway path or just next to it.
Not much wind loading on the leeward side yet but was still snowing when I left although the valley temp was rising at 2 degrees and thawing in the car park when I got back. A weird shiney orb thing in the sky made an appearance for a few minutes as well.
Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

Always nice to meet fellow enthusiasts/nutters so glad the conditions didn't put you off too much!
Looks like its snowing hard at road level from the webcams so could be a great afternoon if the sun comes out!
Friday looks like it will start snowy before everything turns to rain.. so I suspect we might be starting from scratch when the new snow arrives on saturday

Great video guys, I live fairly nearby and would love to get up there one day. Would you guys suggest I needed cross country bindings or can you just carry skis and boots up? If so are crampons and an ice axe required? Thanks

Some snow loss from Fridays rain but Saturday saw some new snow replenish things slightly. Looking generally cold with sunshine and snow showers until the weekend. If you want Beacons turns, now is the time!

I started last year with a normal downhill setup. I'd recommend a touring setup with lighter skis and boots. Had my first skin on Thursday and I find it a million times easier if there's enough snow on the ground for it to work!

Hoping to get up for some evening turns! Best conditions just down the Brecon side of Pen y Fan next to the path. It was getting a bit thin towards the bottom though!
Hoping to head up tomorrow morning. 13th day of the season for me. It's been another mild season but there's been about 20 days of measurable snow cover in the Beacons so far.. which isn't too bad!
