Conditions report from our base in Les Menuires Reberty 2000
Weather 10/10. Unremitting sunshine. Temps are perfect, no thaw (at 2000m anyway) but not too cold either - for example no one actually died on the looong dark trip up the Cote Brune chair.
Off piste 0/10
There isn't any
Piste 6/10
I've been presently surprised by the quality of the snow on piste. Optimum temperatures are keeping things grippy and a low punter count means traffic damage is minimal. That said, quite a few runs / lifts are closed including favourites Chanderossa, Grand Rosiere and Mont Vallon
A top up would be very welcome but things are far from desperate.
Queues - 9/10
If you look hard, queues can be found - the pas de lac bubble had mechanical problems which caused lines in the morning and Briolley in Courchevel was packed after lunch

red 27, where are you staying in Les Menuires? The OH and I are arriving on Sat - staying in Neilson Chalet Reberty, next to the Boyes blue piste I believe.

The steeper entry into combd saulire was just stones yesterday, surprised it was open. La msse black was firm but icy and very very empty. Big logjam st top saulire come 15:30 but I'm sure some of that was world cup traffic heading back

Over in VT and the Orelle valley today, as honey bunny says you have to keep your eyes open to play stone slalom effectively

Yes - snowing since mid-morning. Not heavy though yet. Just that kind of annoying level that doesn't make much difference apart from making the light very flat.
Quite impressed with how much coverage the pistes have given the general low level of snow.

Probably about 2cm all day in VT today. Enough to just whiten the roads. It will soften the pistes up ok though. The on-piste skiing is fine at the moment in the 3vs anyway. Enough to keep people going until this mythical christmas eve dump!

Only a few flakes in 1850 today, not enough to make a difference or even settle on the ground!

Spent all day skiing in thick cloud and light snow. Still not much in 1850 but VT got a covering. Had lunch at the knife and fork!
Called it a day at 3.45, couldn't see a thing!

The sun was shining this morning in Val T, a little high cloud in the afternoon and fairly fkat light.
Pistes in ok condition if a little icy.
Just started snowing very lightly

Echoing this comment, had a fantastic final day in 3v on Saturday - full on blasting around empty pistes. Just had to watch the odd run where the sun had only softened part of it as it was quite amusing going from icy to soft to icy snow in the course of a few metres
Jerusalem not open yet
Interesting new construction in Les Menuiires, just uphill from the Bruyeres Bubble - called speed mountain - "a really unusual toboggan run on rails, landscaped from beginning to end for a real change of scenery, excitement and breathtaking souvenirs"
Oh and the super U in Moutiers seems now to have a multi-story parking setup

Some quiet pistes to be found in Courcheval 1650 and Les menuires today mainly reds. Conditions are holding out really well considering the last major snowfall was in November. Lets hope the forecasted snow for Christmas day does arrive .There were some nice sunny spells to finish the day off.
Whilst the speed mountain development mentioned above by bertie bassett may be interesting it is also very ugly, both in summer and winter. The mayor has spent years encouraging traditional chalet type constuction in the Belleville Valley and then aproves this steel funfair type construction in an alpine resort and one of the areas that has seen significant improvement over recent years. Meribel is also due one. It might be ok for the kids but perhaps not the most appropriate type of development for the alps.

we must have been in close proximity! Staying in Les Menuires, skied over to 1650 arriving around 10:30, la tania for lunch and back via the meribel valley gradually through the afternoon. 56kms of ski, so the snow can't be that bad! Only 1 particularly ropey bit, as you head from Gravelles chair into 1850, a lot of stones on the piste on that first bit. a little snow overnight, off to Val Thorens today before the weather arrives!

I think that has changed a bit. In Val Thorens there has been a move to a huge amount of 5 star Hotel development in the last 2 years. The Koh-i-nor (spelling?) has just opened and is apparently full from the new year onwards. ALtipura opened last year. They are building a huge Club Med complex right opposite my appartment, and have cleared the area to the south east on the Plein Sud side for another two Hotels.
Clearly they have seen money pour into Courch and are trying to do the same.

Snow forecast for Christmas Day hasn't arrived yet but hopefully will start later today. Now forecasting snow for tomorrow so hopefully will get some freshies for our last day of this trip. (Back again in Jan for about 2 weeks) Lots of stones on some pistes where it has been scraped but in general not bad considering how long since last snow. Have skied the whole area that is open this week but not worth trying lower areas. Very quiet last Saturday but getting busier now. Best snow yesterday was on Bartavelle black above Meribel. Wind had blown fresh snow on the piste and although there weren't any bumps on the main section it was in great condition. Similarly Suisses the previous day was in great condition from the top. Bumps had all formed and were still soft and not too big so managed to ski fall line from the top for the first time ever. Not bad as it was my 65th birthday! I usually have to cop out several times! Three valley links closed yesterday due to wind but hopefully better today.

After two days of high winds which closed the 3V links between Val Thorens and Les Menuires we now have snow this morning. It looks like we had about 20cm overnight at Reberty in Les menuires where I am at 1920 metres. It is still snowing now. The temperature on my balcony theremometer is -4C.
