OK, so I'm off-line for a few days, and have to spend ages reading the last 8 or so pages!
Thank-you to Masque (who has met me) and IncogSkiSnow for saying nice things about me!
Mark gledhill - yes, I was born in Burnley, but I've never lived there, so you can't hold that against me
DGO - you'll find someone, but, meanwhile, the Hiring Fair at Squaw is Nov 6th! (I'm teasing) .
Oh yes, and I can read a map - that was the whole purpose of doing Dof E!, AND I do Scottish Highland Dancing - more fun than Salso - IMO!

Tall, intelligent, sensitive, witty but quiet man with pleasant looks and reliable income, seeks female friend for relationship of summers on the sea on the South Coast and winters in the snow in Switzerland. As long as it's Wengen. And there's no salsa.

D G Orf, I can't be bothered reading through all the pages of this so far, so this may be repeating what others have said:
Broaden your horizons. Don't limit yourself to your current locations.
Try something new - Salsa is a possibility, or go for wine clubs and book clubs. Worst case in these is that you'll get to try new wines and read books by new authors - and this will help in broadening your horizons!
If you stick in one place, then you're stuck. Change can be good.
Don't rule out something because it's not your normal routine. SQUAW

eEvans, good post I thought, didn't come over as too harsh - but it's not aimed at me so that's objective.

D G Orf, its an option, something to do in the evening before the season starts !

Well taking everyones advice to heart I did go out this evening to the local dry slope where you can get 2 hours tuition for £12.50 no young ladies present, but it's early yet, only slight problem is that my feet are now killing me, I can hardly walk on them now

D G Orf, Did you go to Xchurch! If you did I'am surprised it's only your feet hurting. I ended up with back pain from the B****y lift there.

boredsurfin, yep but I'm used to the lift so it's just the soles of my feet, pretty soon I may just have to start going to the Gym and a friend of mine is going to join me in some cycling practice once a week for a few hours

boredsurfin, it sounds better than the malicious fixed chairlift that's roaming in Serre Che. It almost broke my damn tailbone. Admittedly, I shouldn't have missed the seat...

D G Orf, a good start, but a dry ski slope is not a promising place to meet young ladies.

Kramer, shut up!
D G Orf, Well done, first steps and all that! I still advocate the binge drinking form of partner capture, however this has been know to backfire.
IncogSkiSno, Well done Cilla- tough love and all that!

Well done D G Orf, you'll soon get to know the regulars there and maybe go for a drink with them. Don't worry if there are no young ladies about, it's about increasing your circle of friends and you just never know when opportunity will strike. And don't listen to Kramer!

Hang on a second with all the flaming ladies!
I never got the impression that DGO had any problem with general socialising, just meeting suitable ladies? If so, then a dry ski slope is hardly likely to be choca with single girls. IMHO there isn't much point in going out to somewhere that's similar to places that he's already been to, I would suggest that DGO needs to go to new places, where single gals tend to go, and as such are likely to be outside his comfort zone. The more that he does this, the easier that it gets.

Kramer, So glad you can read- now absorb, SHUT UP!
If he was looking for a whole room of single women, we couldve sent him to a friday night out in the local Slag and Leg-it in Bournemouth and had done with it, HOWEVER, this was the more subtle approach of increasing the social circle and meeting more people that way.

|
Nadenoodlee, I've asked pleasantly, please would you stop telling me to SHUT UP!
I do feel that I've got something worthwhile to add here.
I would also make the point that it is useless increasing your social circle if it is made up of married couples with children, and other single men, if you're looking to find a partner.
