D G Orf, You may be able to - but refer back to previous posts which intimated that lots of girlies can't.

D G Orf, No I'm not trying to make you go on a dance holiday - I'm merely illustrating that Salsa dancers can also be Skiers, but who knows you may fancy the idea one day.

IncogSkiSno, D G Orf,
I'm a bit late back with this post, but if you are interested then you have to pursue it.
I am not a big fan of throwing enough mud at the walls and some will stick in this type of situation, but you have to get
into the game somehow to have a chance of winning.
If it was me and I read the posts correctly I would pursue the American option and also strike up a dialogue with gregh's
friend. It appears to me that all you have is a 'friends' situation at the mo' so you go down that road until/if a decision needs to be made.
And there are preferences and preferences but I would at least meet them or have some such communication before deciding weather it was worth pursuing or not.
And there is a lot to be said for single mums as well IMO..!!

DGO, I can't believe that you are serious with this thread. A serious response would have been "yes please" or (not quite as good) "no thank you, because...". To be honest, I think your response was verging on the impolite to someone who is trying to help you.

D G Orf, I'm with laundryman in his last two posts (in particular your response to gregh came over as uncharacteristically ungracious). This thread has been a mixture of good fun and frustration for all concerned, but the joke's really getting a bit thin.
I'm the last person who should be trying to offer you any advice, but ISTM your efforts have consisted solely of sitting in front of your computer and typing - which will not achieve what you clearly want (which is more than just a skiing buddy) - and I think that is the biggest obstacle to any resolution of your problem. The best suggestion so far has been to become a ski instructor, which from your posts elsewhere (if you're not completely self-deluded) you seem to have a talent for - try putting some effort in at So'ton or Christchurch at the very least, and maybe something part-time at Wengen. For another tack, I understand your reluctance with the daughters of your hotelier host (although I can't remember whether they're in the right age range or not), but surely they have some friends they can introduce you to?

I think I've just about said all that I can cay on this subject. Until D G Orf, stops making excuses then he is going to be skiing alone in Wengen for the rest of his life - that is the harsh reality. I truly hope he finds what he is looking for, but I doubt it unless he makes some radical changes to his approach on this subject.

D G Orf,
Who's the instructor in the photo?
beanie1, Her name was Ruth (can't remember family name) and the photo was probably taken in 1973 or 74, I'm 4th from the right by the way, didn't I look cute
D G Orf,
I was also taught at that age by an instructor called Ruth, wonder if it's the same one? That was about 10 years later than your photo, she was a Wengener though.

beanie1, Ruth was there for an awful lot of years, she smoked like a chimney though, my favorite teacher was Mathilde Fuchs, very good with kids as she was so short herself 4ft something tall, a really lovely lady who when not skiing could be found hard at work on the family farm or looking after her sister
D G Orf,
I remember Mathilde too - don't think she ever taught me but she taught my friends.
Do you know Hanspeter Gertsch (know there is more than one!)? He is an engineer who also teachs in the ski school in the winter for many years. We met him when he took some friends of my parents for private lessons the first time they went skiing with us. His daughter, Trix use to babysit the Alpenrose's children. She also taught in ski school for about 4 or 5 years - now she just dones one month per year. She was my au pair when I was about 10.

Chris Brookes, apparently it was felt that if I went and learned to dance I stood a good chance of meeting some women... Of course weather or not any of those women might possibly ski didn't seem to occur to anyone else

D G Orf, well, here is a good place to 'ask' as to be here they too must like to ski !

D G Orf, maybe 10% of the women you might meet dancing can ski. Maybe another 10% would like to. Of the 0 single women you meet during the normal course of your life, 0 of them will fall them into the above categories.

D G Orf, I've always regarded dancing as air-humping and afterwards you do often get to do more solid humping too.
