How to stay in Verbier for cheap advice from @LaForet :
From GVA a train to Martigny, then short connecting train to Le Chable - the train/télécabine/bus timetable is at [1]. Up to Verbier on the télécabine or PostBus and no need to hire a car or pay for parking. Check to see if they have a supersaver ticket [2] on SBB (but you will have to commit to a specific train/time). If you want cheap, then there's a hostel next to the train station at Le Chable [3], and up the mountain at Ruinettes [4]. Otherwise, take a look at the accommodation section of the Verbier [5] website, where you can also buy passes in advance (but check there's not a train+ski offer on the SBB website first). Or contact the Tourist Office info@verbier.ch and see what they can come up with for you.

@BobinCH, According to the site it was due to open on the 2nd - was much open ?
IIRC, Last year the 1st weekend only had Lac and Attelas open, but the 2nd weekend, they opened up the run back down to Ruinettes as well.
Unfortunately I need to spend Saturday crawling round in the snow trying to weld a new rear cross member on the landy.
I will aim to get up there Sunday - can't believe how quickly the season comes around, I've only just put my speedos away
It hasn’t opened yet but looking good for this weekend with another 20cm in the forecast down to resort level on Thursday/Fri. Announcement expected today. Once Attelas is open skiing to town is purely dependent on how precious you are about your skis. My son will happily ski on grass/rocks - he actually targets the golf bunkers! I prefer to wait for a decent base!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks @BobinCH,
My sons do not do their own base prep, so take a similar approach to yours.
In addition to grass, rocks, mud, gravel, asphalt, snow park stuff, they have done house roofs, steps, tables, armco, my landy roof, a line of oil drums etc.. but the worst was a flat concrete roof bereft of snow.....
I service all 5 boards, so we'll be getting the Medran Express back down

Hi All
Just booked a cheeky boys weekend in Nendaz 18-22/12, with my son who will celebrate his 16th Birthday whilst we're out there!
Will be our first time in the 4 vallees, so will be reading this thread with interest in the coming weeks to pick up local tips and forecasts!
Nice to see some white stuff on the ground already in your pics...
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@coddlesangers, the top part was nice but the steep pitch before the junction was getting scratchy by the end of the day. Saying that a few people were skiing all the way to Medran

TeleVerbier are opening the Lac 2 chair and the run down to Ruinettes this weekend. Frustratingly though, not the Atellas chair, which means it's skis off and back up the Funispace.

Lovely conditions. Pistes in great nick with full cover down to Ruinettes and plenty skiing down to town. Off piste still sharky but much better than last week. The pup getting amongst it...
