Snowed lightly all night again, another 15cm just to keep us topped up nicely. All runs are now skiable including the ski routes although these are still officially closed.

@EggRider, I wasn't exactly sure of the year, so probably was 2012.
It dawned on me last night that I might need to consider my clothing levels quite carefully this year. I even managed to feel cold on the golf course on Saturday. It was +6C and I had about the most clothing on I wore skiing on the coldest day last year. Probably a good job I have a nice new ski jacket that is probably a bit big for me with room to put loads on underneath.

Getting excitingly close now to when I get there. I will bring loads of layers - and may well end up strewing them around the mountain like I usually do when I get too hot. I have never failed to get them all back by the end of the week. I did feel a bit guilty the year Peter looked after me. He collected all my stuff up for me at the end of each day instead of leaving it for me to find. He hasn't been seen teaching since.

Off to Alpbach on 14th...the forecast isn't looking promising at the moment. At what point do I start panicking?

Snowforecast, bergfex, accuweather and even had a look at the gfs runs though I don't really know what I'm looking at with those to be honest. I realise it's still a while away but the next few weeks look a little on the warm side!

I've arrived and it's looking lovely. Heard a lot more snow is expected tomorrow evening and a further top up on Wednesday. What could be better than that?

Went and got lift pass, skis and ski school booked this afternoon, so I can get out on the slope straight after breakfast in the morning and do some practise instead of having to stagger down into the village and back after rushing breakfast down in 5 minutes and only just get out in time to join the lessons. Much better way to do it. Even had time to pop up in the gondola to the Jochalm and get a bottle of blueberry schnaps.

Didn't want to risk breaking it before I tasted it. Don't quite think I'm up to the human slalom yet - like Alistair did to get back from there. Maybe on Friday.

Yup. Opened the curtains to see everything had gone white again, including the south facing slopes. Seems to be getting heavier too.

Jumbulance arrived Sunday lunch time. Hotel Sonnschein its usual excellent welcoming. Was snowing for a few hours. Though it poured with rain most of the night so destroyed what could have been a great day. Sunshine currently. Need cold evening and snow to cover the melting slushy stuff for tomorrow now.

I hope it doesn't continue to rain! I'm going for a week at the beginning for March.
Could you tell me a bit more about the hotel- this is where I have booked and it looks lovely online but I want to know a bit more about the food on offer as I can be a bit funny about my food and don't eat meat

The Sonnschein is very comfortable with large rooms.
As for food, it generally follows the Austrian model with dinners consisting of Soup (usually vegetable but can be a clear stock soup), A salad bar and then a choice of main course, one of which is always a Veggie/Fish option, followed by Dessert.
Was there at Xmas - really enjoyed the soups and salad bar main courses varied from Average to Good.
Make sure that Gill knows you are a Veggie when you arrive, and I'm sure you will be well looked after.

Thanks for letting me know- I love soups so that's me sorted for dinner each night
My cousin made the booking for us both and said to them then but they were a bit vague on food apart from that there would be a vegetarian "option" (which in most places means mushroom risotto or something of that ilk)

Veggie option tonight was potato parcels with creamed spinach. The young lady who had the, said they were very good.
Currently snowing just hope it stays cold enough to keep the rain away!

@moonshine, I heard people talking about the lift passes to cover the Ski Welt while I was there last week and it seems it is cheaper to buy an all-inclusive one for the whole week than it is to upgrade for 1 day. The Crystal rep on the bus was explaining the prices, so if you don't get the pass before you go you can get it on the bus or direct from the lift office when you arrive.

After a glorious sunny day yesterday today has started bright with temps of around about freezing. Snowing stayed good all day yesterday and more is forecast overnight into tomorrow.
@moonshine, agree with the others All Star will cost €256 for 6 days.

@moonshine, hadn't realised it was mid March, All Star pass is still €256, ski jewel will be €143 for 4 days and ski welt €45.40 so that would in fact be a considerable saving.
Been a cold sunny day today after snow yesterday, cannons were running during the night. Snow is currently in perfect condition.
