Yesterday morning was outstanding. Blue skies, cold and fresh snow from the night before. Perfect corduroy pistes and light powder. Pretty much deserted too. Flat light and milder weather arrived by afternoon, but still a very fine morning for racing round the Arlberg. |
are the big classic OP routes skiable? Many sharks around??

@Markymark29,
It looks like next weeks dump is not so big for Austria. And being southeast of Arlberg, Rendl typically never gets "Arlberg"-quantities anyway...

Been snowing most of today so will be some nice accumulations in places. Vis higher up was poor and string winds scraping some stuff off. Felt a lot busier today, whether it is because it is a long holiday weekend, conditions pushing people towards the same sheltered runs or actually more people it was hard to tell.

Madloch to Zug opened earlier this week. Our friends reported “not a pebble in sight”.
They however spent yesterday on Fang; apparently the visibility up high was fairly poor.

Would love to know how much Stanton considers ankle dust, as there is enough to get to my ankles on the ground here down the valley in Pettneu...
Wasn't just Austrians out yesterday, quite a few Germans and quite a few groups from Eastern Europe (at a guess, couldn't place the language) as well as skiers from Lebanon practicing through the gates with the kids from the Ski Club up on Osthang. Coupled with what ulmerhutte has said, seems like it was a combination of everything making it feel busier.

@hollando, yes saw that post....awesome conditions when he’s rating it! Was on the Tanzbodenbahn with him a couple of seasons ago and the way he dived into Bachseite and jumped the big cliff was fantastic, great guy too.
Getting very excited just put the snow wheels/ tyres on the car.....ready now!

Today was interesting. Snow not as cold and dry as yesterday but pretty good. Blowing an absolute hoolie in zurs and lech, but strangely calm by comparison back around schindlergrat etc. Found the sweet spot on the slow chair out of stuben...they've got a LOT of snow on the ground, and there was quite a reasonable fall this afternoon too.
Not too sure how much will get done tomorrow but the past couple of days have been pretty mega

Despite the vis not being too great out there today, conditions were nice. Although resort is busier than it has been over the season, the pistes weren't too bad as I noticed a lot of people starting to pack up and head off home prior to lunchtime with the way the weather came in and the snow started to fall. It's leaving a lovely layer of fresh, and hopefully doesn't get too damaged by the change in weather tomorrow...

Pretty much as expected today. Started off nice but soon got heavier as things warmed up. Some lifts closed from the off (Flexenbahn, Schindler and Kapall) with the other higher lifts closing around lunchtime (Valfagehr, Arlenmaehder, Christoph, Osthang, Tanzboeden and Zammermoos). No wind down in the valley at resort level, but looking up towards Kapall and the peaks along there, you could see the snow being stripped away and whipped up in to the air.

For all optimists and others who were forecasting more than 1 meter of new snow this week: Lech had 10C today and lost 30 cm....
But it is snowing again

@stanton, that snow came not yesterday, but last night.
Yesterday 20-30 cm was lost, before this new snow came. A lot of turbulence this week
