Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer to lofer

Hi all,

I'm trying to work out the best way to get four people to lofer on a Thursday morning from Salzburg (and back in the Monday) in January.

Flight lands 9 25am and my immediate instinct is a taxi given there are four of us. I know there is a bus (260) but from looking at a timetable I'm not sure it works timing wise - seems to be one at 12 25. I could be looking an at old timetable or even the wrong one though

Happy to take suggestions both on potential taxi companies and whether there is a better option.

Thanks!

@TomBH, looks like the buses are limited, and the train options rely on the same bus as the final leg anyway, so looks like a taxi is the best option.

I'd start with a Lofer company, rather than one at the airport - try https://www.duernberger-taxi-bus.at/taxi-salzburger-saalachtal who also run the skibus in the village. I have no experience of them or of the skiing in Lofer, but they're likely to be cheaper than a Salzburg taxi and may be able to run a shared transfer as they have larger vehicles.

@ousekjarr, thanks! Shame as I wouldn't have minded giving Austrian public transport a go.

Will get in touch with them.

@quinton, can you point me in the direction of the right timetable as I couldn't see this on the one I was looking at? Much appreciated.

https://salzburg-verkehr.at/downloads/regionalbus-260-salzburg-bad-reichenhall-lofer-saalfelden-zell-am-see/

On page 2 - Montag bis Freitag. The F means the bus only runs on non-school days, the S that it runs only on school days (the only difference being the route it takes in Saalfelden and Zell according to whether the schools are open, so there is no impact on the Salzburg - Lofer section).

This is the timetable up until 12 December 2022. The new timetable for 2022-23 has yet to be published but there are rarely any changes. The timetable for this route hasn't changed in years.

Odd, Scotty https://fahrplan.oebb.at/webapp/ didn't show that bus... but I suspect I was looking on a Saturday because I was on autopilot. Going back now and making sure I had a weekday selected, it is definitely there.

Hi all,

Setting off for this trip on 19 Jan for a long weekend.

All set for the 10 47 to Lofer. Two quick questions:

1. Cash for the bus fare to the driver rather in advance? Can't find the price but assume a few euros each.

2. Bus stop right outside the airport?

@ousekjarr, @quinton,

@TomBH, the bus costs 9,30€ and you can buy this online in advance:

https://fahrplan.salzburg-verkehr.at

The bus stop is on the road facing the parking house directly in front of the Airport entry.

@TomBH, download the Salzburg Verkehr app and buy the tickets through it, for the whole group, show it to the bus driver (you will have four tickets with QR codes)
