Been very busy so know time to even look at the webcams for a while. Had a quick look earlier today and all the lower slopes look rather green again, although it also looks quite cold which is good for when it will snow next. Nothing much forecast right now, but maybe later next week. The higher slopes have a little covering which is a good sign so fingers crossed for the next week to lay down a base. Only just over 3 weeks until the slopes open. Remember anyone wanting the discounted season pass, you need to buy it before the end of November.

Never get excited with snow before December or worried about the lack of it.

Snow all the way down to Bourg. Lets hope it stays cold to make a good base. Check out the web cams if you want to see higher up the mountain. Most are working now and it looks great for the start of December.

I pointed out on the La Plagne thread how different the web cams are for the English and French versions of the website, on checking Les Arcs it goes one better. The English ones don't work at all and have less. God they love the tourist market in France.

snowcrazy, to be honest i just think the websites been poorly put together, rather than some marketing tact.
good to hear the conditions are building nicely, its 8 weeks today untill our trip so i'm sure there will be more snow between now and then.

Russeh, I agree with you on this point, but they never have everything sorted out correctly on the English web page and it seems they do not really care. They also always play catch up with everything that they put on the English web page. It is really annoying that they do not try to make sure the English is correct or that all the info they publish is added to the both pages. It does not make them look very professional. With all the professional English speaking computer people around Bourg these days it would not be hard to employ one of them to do this work correctly. I think I shall copy my comment here to the Tourist office and see if they take any notice this season. Some chance!!

snowcrazy, the problem is they will out source the up-keep of the website to a thrid party company who will then need to translate any content to x language which will be a cost each time, its quite hard to keep moving content in sync. Having said that looking at it they do seem to be using a CMS which would suggest they probably have the means to do their own updates directly, so they should have no excuse btw there is very little money in this sort of thing, i know becuase i use to run a web development agency for 5 years. But yeah you're quite right its not very professional at all, although ski resports in general arnt very professional anyway.

thefatcontroller, yes it's shaping up last year - so much snow at this time that we don't have to worry about it for the rest of the season
Have to find something else to worry about, although nothing springs to mind

SnowSquirrell, sorry about that. I will try to post some pics later in the week so you can see what it is like. Just think how good the base will be for later in the season if it stays cold with all this new snow.

snowcrazy, I'm heading to the paradiski (les coches) over xmas and new year and wondering how easy it is to get to ste foy from villaroger and into the 3v from champagny? are their buses or would a taxi be reasonable. We will have a motor, but prefer not to drive for the adventure and so we can all have beer as well.

Mt, Staying in Les Coches you will have very easy access to the Vanoise and skiing Les Arcs and La Plagne, 460+km of psite, do you really need to visit another ski resort?

|
|
|
thefatcontroller, we're there for two weeks and i've never skied ste foy before. Although it looks quite small on the piste map i've heard people say it has some great off piste. so before i book a week there i thought it would be nice to take a look around. i've skied 3v many times, but i fancy the challenge of trying to get across the valleys and back. might not be possible, but we did the four valleys from meribel one christmas day and managed to get a drink in each resort so i think it may be possible.

Mt, You can catch a bus from Champagny to Brides les Bains and take the gondola up from there or you can catch the same bus and get off earlier at Bozel then take the free bus up to Courchevel. Probably a bit of a faff on the bus (timetables for the Champagny to Moutiers bus at www.altibus.com), a lot easier by taxi but not sure how much that would cost you.
There is a snowhead in Bozel who offers transfers called theskibug ( I think that is his snowhead name but just google it for his website), he could give you a price.

Difficult unless you have pre-booked taxis - villaorger is a no horse town kind of place, and whilst down and up to st. foy is not that far by road, you could be waiting a while.
