Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@Mountain Addiction, far too much to put on a thread, and far too much to discuss in open forum! (including a lot of Snowcrazy's secret stashes).

But OK - here's a freebie.
One of the most original, unique, unlike anywhere else you'll have skied, so called 'pisted runs' is at one end of the resort. It is a red, but is a PITA to get to, and yet that makes it the "even-more-if-that-is-possible" enjoyable. Search this forum for Malgovert. (It could also be called Marmite - given the strength of feelings on here).

By the time we get there on Jan 16th, you'll have found quite a few of your own no doubt, but I'm thinking we'll need a SnowCrazy S:heads get together day during that week. You around SC?

As far as secret stashes go, watch out for anyone using the new fatmap app n them. It has permissions to upload where you have been, and I have a suspicion that they will be publishing off piste routes if they see several people using the same route.

I have dared to look a the web cams today and don't they look good. It appears that a lot of pisting is going on to form a firm base and the snow cannons are on. Only 3 weeks until I get there Smile

I fear they are packing the snow to reduce the melt as warm weather arrives - that department took some stick for not doing it last year (maybe the snow in early Nov was too early). Fingers crossed it does not get too warm for too long - also could do with lots more snow below 2500m as its maybe only 30cm at 2000m and 15cm at 1400m.

Well, it was worth a shot to try and winkle so infos out of you people... NehNeh wink

Just want to make sure there are some things I should do or things to avoid - having spent 5 years in PDS i'm hungry for something new. Mostly I ski pistes, but i'm desperate to shake my crippling fear of dying horribly in an avalanche - bottom line is I want to leave it off the to do list if it comes in any thing close to the Swiss wall - never skied it, never will, and not interested by it. Cant handle many bumbs as the ol' knees have had a knocking in recent years. snowHead

I stay practically next door... but can I ever get a table!? Going to make a concerted effort this winter. They don't mention it's run by David Poisson's parents. I sometimes see him training on Blanchot / 2300 just above the Peisey lift.

One of my favourites. I have an eye - talking of secret sashes - on a 'super Malgo', ending at Les Granges. Will report back once I've tried it - unless someone else gets there first or already has...

@Charliee, it looks as though the milder temperatures will be short lived. Hopefully not a month of fine warm temperatures like last season. No need to wobble just yet. At least that's what I'm telling myself Very Happy

@Mountain Addiction, Where are you staying?

@bobski62, Just book a couple of days in advance. We've never had a problem. You will know when you get there that it is run by David Poissons parents. His mum works in the restaurant & is like a cat on hot bricks if there is a race coming up Laughing

@wills_h, We arrived in Plan Peisey today for a few days, & there is snow down to Moutiers Toofy Grin

@thefatcontroller, my guess is he drove to 2000 and parked there, skinned up the blue Vallee de l'Arc and then either skinned or booted up the back of the Grive. Nice work to get some fresh tracks Happy

Lifts open next weekend! All looking very white higher up but we do need more snow as it is not very deep, but still better than last year. The snow canons have been working and they are getting everything ready for next week. The place has a strange calm about it waiting for people to arrive. The new lifts are ready and so are the new or improved pistes. Time to start the snow dancing! And fingers crossed for more of the white stuff this week. I aways post my recent photos over on the Les Arcs Winter page as it is easier to share them over there. Take a look if interested. Link below.

@haigie, yes like @Mountain Addiction, said they were making sure it runs ok. Tried to get a ride up to save driving
but not a chance. You can only ask!

If anyone is interested I will be out on the hill first day when the lifts open just for an easy ski to get the legs warmed up. Anyone want to meet for a ski or a coffee/beer on the first day or later in the week let me know. Now I hope this cloudy weather brings some snow.
