Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

easyJet: Large Sports Equipment 32kg

I did it again this year with no problems when I flew EDI-MXP-EDI with easyJet. I booked 2 x 23kg bags and 1 x Large Sports Equipment 32kg (Windsurfer). On the app, it showed I had a total weight allowance of 78kg.

On check-in at EDI I used the self-service machines, although as I was doing Twilight Check-in, there was a member of staff there to put the special tags on that they use to identify Twilight check-in bags. They didn't raise an eyebrow as the machines didn't appear to care what the 3 bags were.

At MXP the machines were different. There was a staff member there to assist who told me I didn't need to put the ski bag on the scales. The machine did ask what type of sports luggage I had, so I just hit' windsurfer'. It then printed a label with 'Heavy' on it.

While my experience is no guarantee that it will always work, it has worked for me on both the occasions I've done it.

Interesting. I had an issue with EasyJet on my last flight where I had a 23kg bag and 20kg skis allowed, but the machine and the unhelpful fella wouldn't let me pool the allowance. The ski bag was around 15kg and bigger bag around 25kg. Ski bag went first without a hitch and then it tried to charge me for the extra weight in the hold bag. Never had that problem before and always thought the total weight was what mattered (and no single piece over 32kg), the man at check in had no interest in listening to what I was trying to say so I just transferred a few things into the ski bag, a friend's bag and my coat pockets until it was below 23.

The only thing I can think is that it allows you to pool weight into the ski bag but not vice versa, but definitely something I'm going to be more wary of. Although the Easyjet style of being able to book hold luggage in 3kg increments is helpful, just not always that visible on the website when booking.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I literally did this when we went to Arabba a few weeks back. Realised I wouldn't get in under 20KG with 2 pairs of skis and kit so I could either book another 23 KG bag or a large carry on for the rest stuff over 20KG. though I don't actually think i'd have got the excess in a carry on. In the end I booked a 32kg 'hang-glider' in as luggage as it saved me quite a bit of cash over skis and a piece of hold luggage. Took my boots and salopettes as hand luggage and they, just, fitted in the small carry on size check compartment at the gate. The guy that made me check looked as surprised as me. On te way back they actually went in the ski bag as well.

I flew from Gatwick and there was no issue going out. I think the bag was around 27 KG in the end. It's self check in and it was under the 32kg.

There was an issue coming back but that was because I broke my leg and needed assistance to get the bag to the airport. It was under the 32kg when we checked it into oversize so again no issue.

If it goes AWOL then you're probably going to have an issue reporting the contents but you takes your chances. Worked for me.
