Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski shops Oct - Grand Massif/POS

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all.

Just looking for some advice really. I am heading over to the Grand Massif in mid Oct for a long weekend and I was wondering if it would be worth looking at purchasing some skis at that time of year, and if so any recommendations for places to go?

Obviously we wouldn't be able to test the skis, which is a bit of a worry, but if they were a really good deal I could be tempted.

I'm looking for the following....

2 pairs of slalom ski or agressive piste skis, we're not going to race but want something really agressive, fast and fun for piste/ hard pack days!

2 pair of all mountain skis for a bit of everything a

1 or maybe 2 pairs of Full rocker powder skis...

don't need to buy them all at once, (not sure the wallet could take it), but there could be a deal to be had with a shop if we purchase 6 sets of ski i would hope!

thanks.

P.S. also like the idea of last season skis, or ex demo.... esp the Slalom skis.

BenAS, For used slalom skis you could try here, they are in Cluses.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

BenAS, There is also Vieux Campeur in Sallanches that should have some deals, drive through sallanches, and it is on the left as your head toward st gervais etc, but for race skis and that orientation, as rjs, suggests, ski clinic in cluses is where all the clubs in the grand massif get their stuff and get it serviced.
