Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

roga, sounds as though you need to take the family up there quick!!!

Tried to gain permission to take myself and daughter up this weekend and was told NO! Sad

I have spent the last 2 out of 3 weekends (and a week in between) away on the snow but all the same... rolling eyes

Anyway, have graciously accepted the spousal ruling and, although it'll be torture, will try to keep smiling through ... pending going for it in a couple of weeks time weather permitting snowHead

elcottero, you are torturing me with those brilliant piccies! Razz

(Glad you had such a great time snowHead )

roga, due to forecasted deterioration to weather horribleness, I'm backing down from this weekend too. It's a pity though that the blizzard Wednesday couldn't have arrived just 2 days later. Still, the Scottish season's only just over 1/2 way through. Smile

1873Chris, Was at Nevis today seemed to be lots of snow on the goose and the chair runs were 4 bashers wide- for the most part. Some of the links needed a bit of work- ie had to take skis off and walk 20m on the road to the chair. There pleanty snow on the "runs" at the moment and all front of mountain runs are open with really nice snow. Guess it depends on how much rain there is. Even so there is enough snow on the upper goose to survive another thaw.

Today was ace BTW Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

What makes it even more annoying is that i've just got in and it turns out he's taken half my gear aswell lol

I was also at Nevis today. Plenty of snow on the whole and blue skies! The goose and the fairway were nice. Also managed a run over in the back corries - maybe a bit stupid of us considering the avi risk, but it was very nice.

Just walked in after the weekend in Fort William, the snow that was up on Goose was quality on Sunday but using the Alpha tow to get to the Goose was a killer! Tad icey up on the Summit tow, but I was quite happy with the amount and quality of snow up there.

The park did look quite good to me, however did'nt explore it due to not knowing the mountain and only being able to see 10m in front of me. Hence mostly just did laps of the Summit and Goose.

Had a great weekend but all the locals need to calm down a bit, I know it was the Scottish cup final and but saw a few fists flying a bit to regulary for my liking!

Hmmm, I remember 'fitba' frenzy, not a pretty sight and one of the reasons for my abiding disinterest in that sport ... that and the fact it's so overhyped and commercialised in this country it's crazy Mad

Winterhighland website (http://www.winterhighland.info/general/) is still reporting fairly decent conditions - eg 1300 feet vertical @ Cairngorm, Nevis and Glencoe.

We're off to Geneva this weekend (ski destination unknown at present, staying in Sallanches so the ski world (as Alan Partridge might say) is quite literally our oyster.....) but hoping that Scotland holds out for the weekend after.

Yeah, I wouldn't loose hope Elizabeth B, there's still decent sliding to be had at Cairngorm and Nevis is reporting the upper slopes are okay, Glencoe tends to hold onto the snow well and although there's no beginners runs there's apparently decent stuff on the upper mountain.

The weather forecast is also looking more hopeful next week but don't want to tempt fate on that one just yet!

We're up for 6 days from the 4th of April so I'm doing the odd wee snow dance myself! snowHead

Here are the reports from today:

--------------------------------
Glencoe
Wednesday 18th March - Sunny at present with light winds. A lovely day.
Runs: NO BEGINNER AREA AT PRESENT - upper runs have good cover of snow icy first thing but softening fairly quickly in the sun.
4 out of 8 lifts open (serving 7 runs)

Cairngorm
Forecast looks nice and sunny for the next few days as a high pressure system comes in. Come on up and enjoy some spring skiing in the sunshine.
Lady is broken now and will remain closed today due to icy conditions. The M1 poma queue area is getting thin and patchy. M1 Pistes are now closed
The top Bowls have still got good cover as has the Cas runs although the lower Zig Zags are now broken. Lower slopes are closed.
6 out of 12 lifts open (serving 9 runs)

Nevis
Summit runs, upper Goose runs and upper Warrens complete with wide cover. Access and downloading on the Goose chair with the Goose T bar loading at tower 4. Linking traverses and middle runs broken. Lower abilities can use rope tow and Yockies to tower 2.
6 out of 12 lifts open.
--------------------------------

I have to say that although the cover might be limited I've had some amazing days of sunny spring skiing in the past in Scotland, so I'm not too downhearted snowHead

mountainaddict, have a great time in Europe, loads of snow over there I believe ... am out in Tignes again the week after Scotland and hearing good things about the conditions Very Happy

Latest from the Met Office:

UK Outlook for Monday 23 Mar 2009 to Wednesday 1 Apr 2009:
On Monday southern and central areas will be dry and bright but cloud and rain, followed by showers, will spread southwards to reach all but the far south by Tuesday evening. By this time the air will have become cold enough for the showers to turn to snow to low levels, and there may be some significant accumulations of snow on the higher ground in the north during Tuesday and Wednesday. There is also a risk of gales in the north. Thursday looks likely to be drier and brighter but cloud and rain, with snow on northern hills, is expected to return on Friday. We can then expect mainly unsettled conditions going into the following week, with generally below average temperatures bringing a continuing risk of snow to higher ground.

There is still enough snow at Nevis for a fun day....
Upper goose is still wide and softened to give nice spring snow by the afternoon.
Summit run is full width and there are quite a few features in the park. Spider, inside edge and cat track are also open and complete snowHead .
