Dear friends,
I'm a passionate skier and I looked around the internet for a website with technical specifications and reviews of different categories, makers and seasons skis. I couldn't find it, so I decided to make it on my own.
I produced SkiDetails.com (www.skidetails.com)
This website is a non-commercial website. It's a website from a skier for other skiers; on skidetails.com it's possible to view technical specifications and images of a large number of different skis from different makers and categories.
Users can also write and read reviews from other users in different languages.
I would like to know what you think about this website (about either the idea or the realization) and I would be pleased whether you could write your wonderful reviews on SkiDetails, in order to share your feelings and experiences with other skiers from all over the world.

skidetails, I guess this is your competition:
http://www.skipass.com/guide-matos/
Their coverage looks a bit better than yours, but it's all in French.
You seem to be carrying a good deal more advertising for a non-commercial site.
Good luck with it anyway, and welcome to s.

You can't have looked very hard, as well as Skipass there is also Ski Review and Citizen Ski.

Just had a quick look and it needs populating with a bit more than standard fare.
Couldn't find the Mantra under free-ride..? but it is poss it could be hidden elsewhere.
To be any use to anyone looking for other the same old stuff, you need to get other manufacturers in there...like G3, Amplid, Movement etc etc etc IMV
A quick google will thow up many sites of that ilk

Are you actually skiing the models that you post or just lifting info from manufacturer's websites/marketing literature - unimpressive and as others have said barely broader than the Ellis Brigham catalogue

I skied some of the models posted (it's impossible to ski them all). The skis are there to be searcheable and comparable and showing their specs in a standard format. Moreover, users can write down their reviews; I hope there will be soon a lot of skiers' reviews to read.
In catalogs or manifacturer's websites you can't find any reviews and (at least in Italy) in magazines reviews are some way of advertising (every ski tested is fantastic according to them)

Had a look at the site. It is more useful than the shop websites, since they don't show what they don't sell. However it is a bit of a wasted opportunity. If you could drill down the list by limiting price, width, radius, and also bias off piste/on piste, you would be able to get down to a short list of suitable skis, instead of wasting hours trawling the internet! That would be useful.

If you ask it for Volkl, it gives you nothing but Atomic. That's not very useful.

IMO this is too much of a market variable, by country, by date, and useless for archival records of older skis.

Very subjective.
Detailed subjective impressions are good; subjective impressions boiled down to numbers are bad, too much throwing out baby with bathwater.

Lizzard, The links for Voelkl took me to the correct list.
There are a fair number of current skis missing from the list, no adult race skis for Fischer, Voelkl or Salomon.

What DavidYacht said. Would be handy to either find skis according to a profile, or given a specific model of ski, find others that are similar or a close match, but maybe with a slightly different usage bias. So that when I want to demo a ski, I can demo 2 others to compare.
I would have suggested to populate the entries with at least the manufacturers descriptions too (although most are not that helpful tbh).

Merely providing a gear catalogue for reference.

thank you for your answers. The ski list is not complete and I'm going to add other skis in these days.
DavidYacht, price is too much related to country as comprex said, so it's pretty much useless.

I have a list of about 15 skis to consider. I like to think of myself as intermediate level 6/7. I am looking for a 170 ski, around 80:20 on/off piste, but they should also help me in moguls. 70-76ish waist. I want to whittle this down to 3 or 4 and see if I can demo these this winter. This looks like a simple database function, but there does not appear to be a website to help me, this is the niche that could be filled.
Also, all of the forums and websites that I come across do not identify the ski level (or age?) of the skier making the review, constantly I see skiers promoting Big Mountain skis, or very powerful piste skis as the solution to everything, yet this is probably poor advice to skiers at my ability (or usage) level.

I've just looked at this site and I typed in 'Volkl' as the brand and clicked the reset search button. Everything reverted to (Spanish?) and still listed 880 models.
