Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

But you have to suffer bun loss - is it worth it?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

And it lacks the traditional small barrel of restorative Cognac

No, and I wouldn't trust that contraption to fish me out of an avalanche.
I wouldn't trust a fish either, come to think of it.
P.S. In all seriousness - at least whimsical seriousness - does the word 'dog' have the same connotation in the US as it does in the UK? Perhaps one of our US snowHeads could comment?!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

And could someone explain the American etymology of the word "buns"? Just seems odd that they would use an item of patisserie to describe a part of your anatomy. Like brits saying "nice cake!"

You've not heard someone say "She's got great baps!", then?

On that theme, am I correct that the word 'fanny' is the American collective noun for 'buns'?
In other words if I buy a Ski Dog, will it improve my fanny?

The septic fanny is that region, you're right. When in my early twenties and in the US with some mates, great mirth was had over the title of video spotted in a shop there: "Get a Tighter Fanny In Three Weeks" (or similar).
So yes, you'll have get yourself a better, tighter fanny if you work it on a Ski Dog.

skanky, that's true - bakery metaphors abound. Being Londoners maybe some of us have got Chelsea buns...

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I was after the etymology, not the definition. If you need the definition of etymology, umm, hang on, I've lost myself....
I like visual bakery metaphors though. Some baps might be more like danish pastries, some buns might be closer to bloomers. If you've got a nasty split tin, it's time for a check-up, and I don't even want to go near bagels...
