I think it's American for ski touring... "Uphill skier" is like calling a high diver a water jumper.

I can't see the video for some reason, but usually ski touring. We had the same problem around here when ski touring up pistes suddenly became popular. It was someway solved by having ski touring evenings on particular days when the winch would not be used at the same time.

This is the precise reason resorts have skinning routes and designated hours.
Still Jayne Mansfielding yourself is a good way of shedding some kgs for more effective racing skinning.

Exactly that. Skiers walking uphill on pistes after closing or before opening times. Or descending afterwards.
Resorts will limit it to specified pistes, where winch cats are not operating, and also require descents be on the same or other designated pistes.
Clearly here the individual was not following whatever rules were in place.

I believe the modern parlance is "He was doing a Freedom"... which is normally linked to then doing trips to variously see judges, doctors, or morticians.

Would have been a great candidate for the Darwen Awards. Who'd be daft enough to do that?

Not to be confused with an Uphill gardener.

Clearly "uphill skier" not the same as being an "uphill skier" on a French slope, with consequent requirement to give way to downhill skier.
"To uphill" or "uphilling" are not recognised words in British English .

You know it makes sense.

With the consequent requirement to give way to winch cat cable instead.
