Wanted: folding tuning bench.

Before I pay out the ridiculous price for a new bench does anyone have an old one they want to sell. Probably the ubiquitous red Cookski one but I'll consider anything.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I've looked at them, from what I hear they are pretty wobbly and not so conducive to getting a great edge tune (fine for waxing maybe). I have a good solid set up at home but need something for taking to early races.

@Timc, The Vola one is a fair bit cheaper from the UK importer here.

I think the Vola one is identical to the £23.99 (for 2) that Timc linked to? Just different colour depending on which branding it is.

I've not heard great things about them but if someone has used one and can tell me otherwise I'd be happy.

The point was that they are all the same product but the price does depend on what it is called and where you buy it from, I've got a pair of these saw horses, they are great as a saw horse, although not particularly stable, and pretty rubbish as a solid base for doing edges and not even any good for waxing which is why I use my Workmate which gives a nice stable base to work from.

You could probably use a Aldi mitre saw stand too:

Handy if you finally get fed up of your skis and want to chop them up too Smile

Funnily enough I have one of those saw stands and I was thinking about altering it a bit to use it, they are rock solid but also weigh a ton.

I hadn't seen them that cheap before though, that's a bargain for a decent saw bench.

While wandering around our local store that caught my eye because, if you take off the rollers and what not, you're left with three box sections in just the right places for your vice.

I've got one of the generic cheap ones above. They are OK for home use but I wouldn't take them to a race. The tubular ones that Terry Bartlett sells are much better suited to race conditions.

thanks. I got a Bartlett one in the end. Expensive for what it is but it does the job and is nicely portable. If it had an adjustable leg to deal with wobbly ground it would be perfect.
