Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hmm, some of the people commenting to it don't seem to think so.

Keep a good distance between your skis and move up and down in a rhythmic motion?????? I don't think so.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Fair few luddites responding to this on the other site.

Not the bees knees but had some worthwhile elements.

Way too much upper body rotation though.

He only seemed to do the excessive up and down occasionally (mostly when the commentary mentioned it). In the past when I sometimes helped judge SCGB gold tests I remember it as one of the common faults. However it is sometimes necessary (for example in breakable crust).
On gentle slopes like those you don't need body rotation, but on very steep slopes you need much, much more than he did (nearer the old technique, in fact) and loads of angulation of course. (I am talking from experience rather than knowledge of how things are taught now - I haven't had a lesson for many years.)

it's ok, to see what the skis are doing. Whether you'd want to take all of that and use it, would be up to you.

After a while, sking by numbers isn't neccesary, IMV. Depends where you start from.
