Snow Reports

Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@nobsoc
, I've never actually skied the Throwdown (though I've been very happy with my various Countdowns and Showdowns), though a previous flatmate had a pair and like them. Which ones were you thinking of?

the throwdown 89's
although i'm just over 5ft8 (178cm's) and they have them in 182 only.... possibly a bit to big for me ? ..
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Guess it depends on your ability and preferences... I'm 5ft9/70kg and ski the 194 CD1, 190 SD115, 189 CD114 and 183 CD107 Nice length for going uphill, but sometimes feels short going down). I'm not a flippy-spinny type though!
Depending on what skis you're used to riding, the combo of twin tip, low tip/tail rocker, sections of flat/no camber then only a small cambered section right underfoot may make them feel shorter (on hard snow) than the length might suggest anyway.
EDIT: Note also that Down are gauging interest in a 175cm version (interest currently at 28% of what they'd need to finance it), so you can register here if that's what you'd want (scroll down for the Throwdowns):
