Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dieppe or Caen to Tignes Le Lac driving

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there we are going out to Tignes Le Lac on 27th December and just looking at options of driving from Dieppe as opposed to Calais - any tips/pointers etc
We are in a T5 with roof rack so will be just over 2 metres high - just in case any height restrictions we need to be aware of
Thanks in advance

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@SharleyG, if using telepeage tag, many of the toll booths have 2m height restrictions

That said I know my Disco with roofbox comes in at 2.40m and will fit under them, except one solid bar I think at Reims

Dieppe/Calais - not a big difference, really.

Have some food and drink in the vehicle in case of hold-ups with either heavy traffic or heavy snow (or in the worst case scenario, both). You shouldn't have big traffic problems on a Tuesday, though.

Make sure you have practised putting your chains on fast enough that your hands don't freeze.....

Audio books are brilliant - I am driving down on Sunday, and have loads on my phone, ready to go.

Why Dieppe over Calais?

It's a longer, more expensive and more infrequent service over the channel and doesn't gain you much, if anything, getting to either the ports either side.
