Judging by the sparse descriptions of some of the items I don't think any of them are skiers. Some decent prices if you know what you are looking at though.

It's been well documented that MA is desperate to get into the Winter Sports market and who can blame him? He started a few years ago by buying Ski Wear4Less and took all their stock. I've read somewhere though that some very well known winter gear specialists won't supply to him. Think he was also keen on taking over Blacks. I'm loving the resurrection of the old 80's brands such as Nevica and Campri both of which I had as a kid. Would love them to bring out a retro Nevica range with the pink/yellow fluo trim!! Interestingly, I visited a Sports Direct in Worgl Austria back in January whilst staying in Niederau. It used to be an Intersport and seemingly they are buying a lot of the big stores over there, quickly becoming a brand name. This shop was massively different from any in the UK for winter sports gear. They had all of the top makes and half of the large shop was dedicated to ski gear. They had Ski's and boots from most manufacturers at great prices (HEAD World Cup GS 2015 for €399 with bindings). My mate bought himself a pair of HEAD boots for about €170 which were over £200 in the UK. Lots of jackets, pants, helmets, goggles etc. 2 of my mates bought a pair of Salomon goggles for €40 that are priced over £80 in the UK. I'm just wondering if this will be a way for them to get the top makes imported into the UK!!!

MA is definitely a skier. Someone on here met him on the slopes a couple of seasons ago. In Verbier I think

Interesting (but not surprising) program on the TV last night about some rather sharp practices being done by SD. Particularly around their 'SALE' prices and the quality of brands which are now under MAs control.

I thought that programe was just stating the obvious. Personaly dont see how anyone can complain about SD, they are really cheap however you look at it. The only thing I dont like about them is that they add useless magazines and mugs to your order online without you asking and then make you pay for them

I know pretty much nothing about bindings but why are these so cheap?

From the picture it looks like the DIN only goes upto 4.5 which could be the reason.
Just that Ive got a pair of skis lying about that Ive never used as they need bindings but dont want to pay much atall as Ive got another couple of pairs anyway

The few Dynafit items that SD are selling from the purchase of the Sport Ebyl business/stock last year (who were an Austrian retailer). Dynafit will not be supplying SD or SE in the future. Note that the Radical bindings offered are the older original model with the internal anti-rotation pin & no fore/aft elasticity in the heel whereas the lastest model from 13/14 onwards has the anti-rotation lock on the brake chassis & has the fore/aft elasticity function in the heel.

Sports Direct for me goes in the Ryanair and Sky category, not at any price!

Mike Ashley and his whole family are keen skiers and have a chalet in Verbier.
Mike must be the scruffiest gazillionaire in town, very down to earth indeed.
His chalet is used throughout the season for incentive trips for staff who have made/exceeded their targets.
If you get to go then everything, every single thing, is paid for.
The incentive is open to staff from all parts of SD and at all levels, it is not just senior people at all.

And seeing that SD only has an official staff of about 350, that ensures none of those 'workers' get a sniff as they're not employees of SD, but contract agency workers and therefore not eligible for bonuses/incentives/sick leave/guarantees over hours etc etc etc...

He's a very smart guy. Look after the very high performers. I don't like what he does to once great brands but can't blame him if people are prepared to buy them. A bit like clubs buying ageing players for shirt sales...

@22 dropout, Funny you mention shirt sales - the shops at both clubs he owns an interest in (Newcastle and Rangers) are now Sports Direct branches in all but the name over the door, and all proceeds go straight to the company, the clubs don't see a penny.

I have an incentive chalet in the Alps where I can go skiing every single day of the season, the only incentive I need is a bit of fresh snow and sunshine. Beats working for some zero hours UK slave labourer.
