Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Thanks for posting that - that's great news! It'll be interesting to see the prices, but I'm guessing there will be reasonably cheap fares for early bookers?

I've done the Eurostar London - Paris, followe by high speed Paris - Geneva before, but with 2 days in Paris in between, and it certainly was very easy relaxed travelling.

fixx, 6 hours station-station is not bad - St Pancras - LHR - 2hr checkin - 2hr flight feels like a 5 hour trip to me and one would hope that trains would run on a more punctual basis more often.

Price wise you have to presume that they'll make it competitive vs airlines. Although that's clearly not going to be guaranteed having once had to make a comparison from Geneva to a place called Heilbronn in Germany, trip times were going to be very comparable but while I could go most of the way first class in a Deutchebahn ICE for ~€220 Lufthansa wanted €2,000+ just for the GVA-Frankfurt sector.

under a new name - totally agree re. station-station vs flights, airports can eat up a lot of time (Geneva airport usually being a very positive exception for me).

The luggage allowance on the train will be attractive too for those travelling with anything bulky or heavy.

I'll probably have a look on Thursday to see how the prices come out, though I can't think of anything I actually need to book to London at the minute (though I'm flying to London on Thursday!).

Eeek @ Lufthansa, that's crazy!

Any idea of the timetable and cost?

According to the Telegraph:
Quote:
Eurostar will operate four daytime services each week, carrying up to 900 passengers to and from Geneva’s central station.

But no word on actual days/times, or prices yet that I've seen.

Edit: found a timetable, here:

Return trips apparently starting at £114.

fixx, yes, Eeek indeed!

I do not understand airline pricing sometimes (often times).

Reasonable timetable. Still will need to fly to get cheeky extended weekends with evening travel only.
