Poster: A snowHead

Hi all
Has anyone ever used TDC in Tignes for off piste guiding?! Off to Tignes in March and want a few days with a guide and their 'Adventure' course seems like decent value.
Any opinions, views etc would be great.
Cheers

@Robsaan, only on piste lessons with Gavin but the whole set up is impressive IMHO

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mixed terminology here
TDC are very very good at off piste lessons and nearly all have the highest level Uk quali with French equivalence but as far as I am aware (and their website backs it up) none are High Mountain Guides such as you would find in the Guides office. So if you are looking for an off piste lesson then TDC are absolutely the team you are looking for - if its long distance A level guiding (perhaps with touring) then may be not.

Had lessons with tdc tignes 3 times now and i can only recomend them whole heartedly. The problem comes when you mention having a course, in my experience it will only be as good as the lowest common denominator, or the least experienced skier, therefore you maybe better off hiring then on a 1 to 1 basis. I'm sure they have masses of local knowledge but it all depends on what you want, as per previous post.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yes thought this may be the case. Normally when i go guiding its as a part of a group, but can't really afford to hire one on my own and I'm just off with the missus on holiday who is having boarding lessons.
Might have a punt on this one, might even learn a thing or two also the adventure course thing is just 3 hours a day so fits in with her boarding lessons.
At least everyones comments towards them are positive.
Cheers peeps.

@Robsaan, Depending on your programme there are teams in resort that book a guide. The SCGB organise one each week if you are a member - they meet in the Alpaka Hotel each night.

Quick update on this, spoke to Gavin who seems like a sound guy. Informed me that the course is generally set around the standard of the first person to book on, which luckily for me i am !! Only thing is need at least 2 more people for the course to run, so if you're in Tignes the week of the 7 March and fancy some off piste let me know.

Bump this post with a week or so to go as we normally go to Tignes that week and will be looking for a lesson too. Have had a few days with Gavin last year and would go with him, or anyone from TDC Tignes again.

I'm booked on an off piste course with them the week after next - can't wait!!
I've had some one to ones with 3 of the TDC instructors, and honestly they were the best lessons I have ever had by a mile. And I've had a lot of lessons...
