well we have had a strange 24 hours!
it snowed, it rained, then it sleeted then it snowed. Then last night it sounded like it rained all night heavily, but now it is dumping big big big time!
its very wet and heavy snow and the flakes are huge!
and its still snowing!
aparently more in briancon, but its a south wind so to be expected it think
and plus snowforecast always seems to underpredict snowfall.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

ok people some very important new regarding serre chevalier ski passses.
having just spent a day in french hell i have some important info for anyone come.
this year things are changing a bit.
we no longer have the grande serre che area, it is now knows as Serre Chevalier.
The ski pass for just monetier and briancon are changing too.
With Briancon, you can NO LONGER use the Aguillette and prorel lifts, so if you get to the prorel and drop down the chantemerle side of things your are stuck with getting the navet back to briancon.
With monetier, you are good to go as far as la cucamel, but dont drop down the cucamel run or you'll be catching the navet bus home!
Yes they are much smaller than usual and yes as expected the price has gone up a little bit!
But all the emphasis is to push the serre chevalier pass.
Remember we have a new lift from serre ratier, next to les oeufs (the bubble) going up to just under the grande serre. Great lift to minimize the lift queues from serre ratier.
ummmm i sound like someone who works for the mountain......
oh hang on a minute............
I do work for the mountain
and infact are the first non french person to work for the mountain
will let you know what station i'm working at when i know so you can be sure to be spoken to in english when buying your ski passes
oh yeh not snowing anymore!

Can't go in Dec as originally thought - but will still be there in Feb
Six of us, a mixed bag of skiiers and boarders (see- we can get along.... we just dont talk to each other for a week!!! LOL)- All guys aged 30 something, have just booked to visit on the 13th Jan for a weeks stay in Chalet Pyrene.
A couple of us visited Serre Chevalier for a day, whilst staying in Alpe Duez, and liked the varied terrain so much we thought we`d give it a proper look!!!
Can anyone give us a heads up on the best apres ski bars or even reccomend a restaurant for us to try on the chalet hosts night off.....Bearing in mind Im not even sure where on the map our chalet is..... anyone got a map they can post up, or I can download??
Much appreciated.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The Pyrene is on the edge of the old part of Villeneuve. Bars: the Frog and the Yeti are lively and there are a couple of bars in the old town. Restaurants also in the old town and the Frog used to do good food as well.
