Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

under a new name, maybe just lucky. Knowing the food is so good we probably wouldn't choose there for a hurried lunch anyway but never felt we were kept waiting for silly length of times.

Pamski, yes looked great from what I've just seen on FB.

Anyone able to say where they are up to with Prodains cable replacement ? Is it due to open (in part) this year?

Hi Everyone, great thread- were driving to Morzine on Sunday and staying in an apartment near the bottom of Le Pleney. Can anyone suggest the closest place to park our car where we can take it in and out if need be?

Cheers! Roo

Phyllis Stein, they are still talking February. But the old one is being kept active until then.

Some impressive tracks under it on Sunday...

Roo, there is a public underground car park pretty much directly underneath the Pleney bottom station. We tend to use that at a cost of afew Euros if we drive round for a day skiing Morzine/Les Gets.

No idea how the pricing works for a full week.

Doubtless the locals will be along with better advice (unless they are keeping all the good spots secret!)

After spending the last few weeks surrounded by snow I can't ski on and a well timed redundancy we're looking at spending three weeks in LG in Jan. Apart from the LG website can anyone suggest a good way of finding cheap and central self catering accommodation? Sorry, I know this isn't about the weather or snow conditions....

MeMyselfandI, no, but it is probably so much easier and quicker to talk to them! Should be some choice I would think for those weeks. We stayed in a small cheap apartment on the main street once which was very basic and dated but (apart from a little noise at chucking out time from l'Igloo one or two nights), it was great.

marmotte16, thanks the SC apartment we stayed at in the old village last year is available so they're just asking the owner if they'll do a discount. Now to keep my fingers crossed MrI doesn't find a job that wants him before the start of February!

Gone a tad warm on this side about 4 degrees earlier at 2000m and bit slushy. Forecast of rain which I hope is wrong and actually ends up being snow! Sad

Whilst I'm not going to be popular for saying this, a bit of warmth and rain would be good as it'll consolidate and stabilise the snowpack. The last thing we need is for the snow we've got to not consolidate properly.

Roo, just been in Morzine this morning and I went to see if there were any price lists up for either the underground car park at Plenay or under the Office de Tourisme - sadly nothing there to show how much you might be charged. Sorry.

andy from embsay, it was this one from the Les Gets site;

Don't bother looking for the pisties, their work is clearly done. Actually I say that, as the link is pseudo live the very evident ribbons might not be all that visible, especially at night. Check back tomorrow!

Managed to get out for a few runs with the misses this afternoon, despite the rain and the broken super morzine lift we enjoyed ourselves! All we need now is the link buses to get working, it was a nightmare trying to find somewhere to park. And thank god the first guests enjoyed their fiirst proper days worth of food from kitchen, phew!!!

The rather yucky damp falling stuff of the last couple of days has finally turned back into snow in Les Gets, roads been cleared, driveway cleared - can't see across to Mt Chery right now.

As the circuit at Roc d'Enfer was open at the weekend we decided to go there and avoid high winds - as on Saturday in Avoriaz we were certainly raising the average age - and there was only rain at the bottom of the gondola!
Bit heavy when we got down to Bellevaux but lovely again at the top of the chair - and really only a bit grumbly, picking your way on the last bit of the track home. Would have been great to have been able to do it earlier in the week before the rain came.

The supermarket in St Jean d'Aulps which was a Huit a Huit is now a Carrefour Express and was open yesterday morning - all newly done out in there and quite a nice little store if you don't want to stop at the big Carrefour.

Pamski, a pedantic detail but think they prefer to call it Carrefour Montagne although I don't think there's any specific regional bias to it.

albinomountainbadger, not wishing to be really pedantic, but there are not many around more pedantic than me, I think that the Carrefour in Les Gets in C... Montagne but the one in St Jean d'Aulps appeard to be this other name. Stand to be corrected though and will have another look next time we are there.

Been snowing all morning - pretty bad vis so we skied where we know the twists and turns just in Morzine and Les Gets.

Snowing this morning in Chatel and Mrs DJL reports the carpenter fitting the kitchen only just made it up to the apartment. He's talking about fitting his chains. Gives you an idea of the state of things if local tradesmen are putting chains on.

Been tipping down most of today in Les Gets - we have certainly seen quite a few cars round here with chains, local ones too - just been able to ski back down the road to the front door of the chalet, just nice!

Excellent day today doing laps around The Stash and the trees above Lindarets with MrGeetee and geetee Jr. The snow was even better than yesterday which was already a marked improvement on Sunday. Tomorrow is looking good too but then it's set to get mild with the freezing level going up from Thursday.
