A simple, informal event.
The fastest time on snow between Montalbert and Villaroger.
(Or one end of Paradiski to the other.)
Simply post your fastest time for either or both directions.
(ex FIS skiers and ski club reps will be handicapped)
(The route may be on piste off piste or a combination of both but the entire jouney must be made on snow and lifts)
Everybody is welcome to participate
Results only, here.

boredsurfin,
Any particular start/end points - e.g. lift-gates or pubs/bars? (the latter obviously being an end point, if 'competing' )

boredsurfin, you could but it would be difficult. Wii's don't have sharp edges, are a little short and fitting bindings may be a problem!

well, what happens if a lift shuts down whilst your on it? or is traveling slower/faster then normal? maybe pause the stopwatch when you get to the lift/que and start again when you get off?

boredsurfin, does the lift system record your time like the stats you can get from the Dolomite Super Ski pass or are you expecting plain honesty from contestants? Could you make it into a proper snow adventure race with a combination of transport forms? Maybe start by snow shoeing, then hop on a dog sled, then cross country skis, downhill skis, ice skate across a frozen lake, a bit of ice climbing and then a final ski leg?
I met the Salomon Crested Butte adventure racing team in Kerry last month, I'd say they'd be up for a race like the one above! http://www.teamcrestedbutte.com/

Just thinking of other variants - how about from in Le Fornet through to Tignes Les Brevieres for those in Espace Killy?

Peter Ross, my company (Suez) is doing exactly that in Flaine this December (11th - 14th). "The Winter Raid" (aka adventure racing) .
Well, downhill, x-country, biathlon, "rope work", orienteering, & snow shoeing anyway. There will be over a hundred teams there from around the world - rumour has it that some business units employ people solely for the purpose of being good at these things.
Avoid.

boredsurfin, For those of us based in the middle of the route - could we start & finish on the Plan Peisey side of the Vanoise Express?

boredsurfin, Ahh, I see - its only a simple one-way event

Should we open a book on which of the "simple one way"s will be the quicker? I suspect ending in Montalabert - but only by looking at various lifts and not having tried them. (God its 173 days until I go, what the hell am I doing examining piste maps already...????)
Confess, I haven't skied La Plagne all that much, so while I am confident of a (reasonably) fast time from Villaroger to / from Vanoise, it will require a little intrepid venturing on 'the other side! (Perhaps I'll need to go over a few days before we do it for real, see whether the piste map tells the truth, the whole truth and ...etc.)
Maybe Genepi's idea is not altogether off beam - a round trip may be a fairer test.

genepi,
that's twice the distance...
|

JimW, Not if its a there & back race as redrunmarcus, says. If its one way, then I agree, it has to be started at one end or the other.

|
|
|
|
genepi,
I agree, redrunmarcus if you look at the OP, it is a one end to the other challenge.
So for anyone not staying at the peripherary, travel to/from the start/end points will be prior to/after the timing beams, and we are all going to do double distance anyway to get home - unless of course the washing line is closed by the time you return to it, and it's taxi time...
Think I am going to go for starting in Montalabert, since although I suspect I can do Villaroger - Vanoise quicker the other way, I know how to get back home from almost anywhere on the Arcs side of the mountain should things run a little late.
(I think we are (?I am? ) getting whaaay too serious about this!!)
