Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I appreciate that this is a snowsports forum but am wondering if there are any
s out there who can advise on the best place to find information on hiking in the
Vanoise
National Park.
For instance, are there any websites/message boards like Snowheads - but for hikers?
We will be in Val Thorens for a couple of weeks holiday later this month and would like to do a 3 or 4 day (manned/wardened)hut to hut hiking trip, in addition to mountain biking, which is the main reason for our trip.
Can anyone advise us of a good route or point us in the right direction please?

This guide covers an 11-day walking tour of most of the
Vanoise
but at the back there are a couple of 4-day circuits that cover the
Tour des Glaciers
and a 5-day traverse of the
Vanoise
.
However, you should be able to work something out by buying the relevant IGN maps (3534OT should do most of it) and looking for the pinky brown footpaths marked GRxx.
We've done a couple of tours there on skis but - so far - nothing on foot. These involved a fair bit of car shuffling / taxi rides so they are probably not relevant to you.

I'm pretty sure you will need to pre-book the mountain refuges in the peak summer periods, it is very busy in July and August.
You could try contacting the tourist office at Champagny, they have English speaking staff who have a good knowledge of the area
