I have just spoken to the guys there and wish I didn't have other commitments this afternoon. They have 6" of snow on their slopes, excellent conditions and hardly anyone skiing cos everyone thinks the snow's all gone! If I can persuade the old man I might try and pop over there tomorrow or Saturday as the forecast suggests things will be similar. They say to always ring first though. http://www.mountainboarding.co.uk/ski/index.htm

Butterfly, I've had me eye on that too, as has Mosha Marc. Might be on for a trip over tomorrow, methinks!

Wanted to go last week, rang first, but they said they only had one run open and advised me not to travel.
Pretty honest really. Not just an answering machine.
I guess there's a bit more chance with the stuff that just fell.
Prices look good. If open tomorrow, I might give it a go.

Butterfly, look out for me, my helmet is black with that sticker on the front. Will give them a bell when we wake.
Hmmm, it'll mean dragging skis out of the loft and all sorts. Good job I'm not going out tonight!

The recorded update as of 10.30 on New year's eve said the conditions are fantastic. However I'm not sure if that's 10.30 AM or PM. No answer on the mobile as yet. As today is bank holiday, opening hours are 10.30-5.30

Perhaps they had a late night! I am sending a text and then going in the shower, hoping for a reply by the time I'm done! We had a light sprinkle of white late last night, but other than that it's a crisp still blue sky day this side of the Pennines.

Sounds excellent folks. Remember to take lots of pics.
I would love a rope tow for the farm, but we only get skiiable snow once ever 10 - 15 year. (30m above sea level and 3 miles from the coast)

I have to say, we had a fab day out. Superb snow, one slope pisted, another with up to 6" of mostly virgin powder, and an area between with interesting undulations (and yes, I DID ski them!). There were not too many people about, blue sky.....thought I must be dreaming! Trip report will appear with photos in due course!

andy smith, how do you get the slope pisted, surely you don't have a proper basher just standing by for a snow shower?
|
|
|
|
|
|
Megamum, check the trip report, you can see the "piste basher". Or the toy, as would be more accurate judging by the way his face lights up whenever he has to use it

Can't believe I've only just noticed this post and the trip report.... I'm not even that far from Halifax, could have been up there playing.
Not sure I can make it today - the snow is tipping where I am, so am unsure what driving conditions will be like getting up to the m62 from where i live

They will be the ones currently dumping their load all over me near Saddleworth!
If this snow comes your way you're in for some nice fresh powder - it has chucked down quite a good few inches in a couple of hours since i got up.

andy smith, it's likely that my and my daughter will be coming tomorrow, I have all my own equipment but I'd like to confirm that you have kit for my 8 yr old, she weighs 37kg, 1.4m tall and takes about a size 4 shoe.

stevew, I've seen the gear they have and they'll have the boots (rear entry probably) and old-school straight skis. You;ll need your own clothing though and as it's rope tows, a sturdy pair of gloves

You know it makes sense.

nbt, that'll do. I've already got out my "rock" ski's- which are also straightish and found my old gloves - might even get the old yellow criss cross ones I used to use at Harrogate all those years ago - just for the nostalgia mind you
