Does the BBC intend to broadcast Ski Sunday this coming season!
The Ski Sunday web page seems to have been flushed!
The program seems just to be a Winter Sport .
Will I just have to manage with my Ski Sunday ring tone?

Its a shame but BBC Ski Sunday is getting shadowed by Channel 4 Ski show as they have most of the viewing rights etc

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's ridiculous. There isn't even a pin-up of the great
David Vine.

From memory there was a bust-up between the Austrian broadcasters and the FIS last year, which allowed the BBC to broadcast the Hahnenkamm (but I'm relying purely on memory).
I guess the BBC have got the Winter Olympics rights, so we will see plenty of skiing in early Feb.

I wonder if they will have a better line up this year

I thought the coverage by Ch 4 last season was better than Ski Sunday's efforts in recent years (except for the silly time of day that Ch 4 broadcast the programme). There's a lot more I'd like to see improve, so hopefully the coverage will continue to get bigger and better.

From memory the Austrian TV (ORF) had a separate contract to cover the Austrian races and the Beeb bought their rights, everywhere else was covered by the FIS contract which C4 got the rights for, having promised to provide better coverage than the BBC, of course they provide more TV time it's just that it's typically shown at 1am

David Goldsmith, what's this with the David Vine posters. I seem to recall that you were a committed Hazel Irvine fan. Don't tell me that you've now gone to the other side.

Ray, there's no question that Hazel Irvine has the most beautiful smile in Scotland.
As for commentary, I would have to say that David Vine was a master of the art ... for a man who apparently collapsed at his first snowplough.

David Goldsmith,
What about Carol Smiley?

Scud, from where I sit your ringtone is quite obviously "Cotton Eyed Joe" mashed with "5-6-7-8".

You know it makes sense.

Scud, perhaps it's a whiteout?
Anyone know when C4 is likely to start broadcasting the Ski Show this season?

hyweljenkins, Scud, I've got the Ski Sunaday ringtone as well. Downloaded from the Ski Sunday website (or was it The Ski Club) 3 or 4 years ago

The theme tune is actually called "Pop looks Bach" if you are searching for it.

sad to say so have I - whenever one of my skiing mates rings up and the tone plays I get a little tingle!
My vote goes for Hazel Irvine introducing C4 coverage at a sensible time intro'ed by the ski sunday music

The only decent thing about last season's Ski Sunday is* the theme. It was a shocker - too much time fawning over Alain Baxter and Chemmy Alcott, and not enough time showing the sport. If I want to watch presenters sycophantically ga-gaing over guests I could watch Richard & Wrinkly every day.

If it makes anybody any happier, i'm more than interested in the job of fawning over Cheemy Alcott!

no_snow_in_swindon,
You could always give chemmy a ring and ask her! phone number 0789990(&(*&E*^*((EW*YEW*^(*WJJCHSH bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt {carrier failure}
They are showing some tv programmes all about chemmy on the channel 259 (audi TV - sponsor) if you must letch over her.......
Back to the TV coverage
Austrian TV is the best, they literally manage to spend so much time on the ski commentry that they can fill the hours between race runs with decent coverage.
Eurosport is usually pretty good, especially predicting the exact lines john clark/matt chilton or bell-boy are about to say.

dead serious, some 1/2 hour programmes with chemmy using her A3 for summer training. Eg driving to then go mountain biking, rock climbing, and carry skis around (without any boot/pad/helmet/rucksack or indeed snow)
The first part of the mobile number was/is accurate (but she probably changed it ages ago), and would kill me if i actually posted it online!
Neil (racer ready) is heading out for the first race, so at least a reasonable report from a brit will be emailed. I will have to pretend about the tv show, or check eurosport
Of other interest is a europa cup race taking place in belgium in a couple of weeks at one of their snowdomes.

She does well to get skis in an A3, it's not an ideal size for them at all I tried ...
Audi have sponsored some great ski/boarding movies, they had a backcountry boarding series that was sensational. I'll bet they'll show it on the Audi channel sometime and it was very, very good.

having 155cm slalom skis does help. I used to put my 150cm skis in the back of my car (old beat up mk 4 escort) without actually putting any seats down.
