Looking at where to go feb half
Term. Wanting cruisey blues. 17-25 feb does not clash with Nice/Marseille etc school hols so wondering about Monty, Vars or Risoul.
Any thoughts? Anyone been at feb half term? Is it rammed? We normally choose Italy to avoid the queues.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@Clairey1975, I have only been to Montgenevre of these three and would recommend it. Particularly as it is linked to Claviere in Italy so you could always ski over there to escape the crowds. I would stay in Montgenevre though as it has better accommodation options.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Fully recommend Risoul / Vars (either of them) for cruisey blues. Lift system better on the Vars side nowadays so probably fewer queues starting there.
Haven't been to Montgenevre - but suspect it might be a bit quieter as the wider domain is half Italian.

Hello Clairey1975...been a while since you posted this..but did you go skiing in feb, and if so, where - and did you go in Half term? How were the crowds? i am wrestling with the same question, and was looking at precisley these 3 resorts ( as well as the Dolomites) for the same reason.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Vars good, given it's not Marseille holiday week. We were there in 2014, and the last afternoon coincided with the "Marseille Invasion" on the pistes, leading into a very noisy Saturday night. Until then, the pistes were relatively quiet, so long as you got up early to miss the bottlenecks (that are obvious once you've skied the area).
Risoul links to Vars, but we didn't like it as much.
Monty G is our favourite though. (Been there 2015, 2018 and 2020.) Not busy during the week (not that many beds in the resort itself) though can get a bit busy on the French side at the weekend with day-trippers from the Italian side. (Haven't done much in Italy as either constrained by lessons or just having too much fun on the French side.)
All offer plenty of cruisy stuff. Vars has better snowparks, if that's your thing.
