Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing is good for me...

Closest thing to skiing while I lived in Derbyshire was mountain biking - fast single-trail. Hillwalking was also good for getting away from it all and getting a bit of fresh air through the lungs.

Peak district is great for hang gliding and paragliding and you've got the ladies world champ teaching at Darley Moor.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

it's a life, not a holiday

This season, more than ever, that rings very true - definitely been more work than skiing! Still, I do think there's something a little bit magical about the mountains (in the UK as much as anywhere). I get the same sense of well being here in summer and winter and just getting out on the hill for an hour results in an immediate de-stress. It's not just the air/exercise/adrenalin of outdoor exercise - I think the scale and openness of the mountain environment is good for the mind (I would probably feel the same at sea were I not such a rubbish swimmer rolling eyes). Even last summer, when not able to exercise due to a knee op, I was happy in the mountains - there are certain spots where I can sit and look out on the world, and know it'll make me feel better.

I do enjoy walking but always feel a bit of a plank going by myself. Maybe I should borrow a dog... wink

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

queen bodecia,

Another thing that requires 99.667235% concentration is learning to play a musical instrument - have you ever tried that?

That works for me; an excellent suggestion, I think.
