Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Boots on a budget

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Guys this is my first thread so welcome me to the forum Very Happy

Haven't been on the slopes in about 4 years and decided it's time to get back into it! So i've been going to my local indoor slope and renting.

I'll get to the point i'm looking at getting my own boots! I've just ordered some K2 Sight and can't wait to use them!

I'm on a budget and have narrowed it down to 3 pairs of boots!

Can you tell me which boot you'd go for, why and if your going to slate them tell me why!!!!

How much does flex point matter!?

I'm an average skiier who is getting back into it! Want to get back on the jumps and rails!

Any suggestion welcome Smile

Wot pam w said. You need to try them on - if you buy online you risk wasting your money and having sore feet. Now is a good time for end of season sales and discounts though.

Do you know if you have wide or narrow feet, high or low arch? With this information you can work out generally the brand and obviously the size that will fit you (Salomon usually fits anyone) eBay awaits! The anticipation of opening that much taped box aaaah.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

See a fitter tell him you don't want to spend the earth (only fair) and that you will gladly take last years clearance sale boots off his hands if they fit you. If he suggests something you can't afford then you can always try price matching on the net when you know what your looking for.

Flex varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Generally beginners will have a lower flex boot and advanced skiers higher but weight and height can play their part here too.

P3Nn, the fitting advice above is correct but in addition all 3 of those are too soft. You'll outgrow a 60-70 flex boot in about a week if you're not a pensioner. At size 29.5 I assume you're not a 7 stone weakling either so a flex of 90-100 would be better.

Book an appointment with a shop in resort for your first afternoon, you'll need it to get them sorted or buy a new pair that actually fit.

P3Nn, if your budget is very tight or you don't have the time/inclination to try on a range of boots it would be better to rent.
