Poster: A snowHead

I did search for this as I thought I'd seen it discussed previously.
Will reps in resort get any discount on ski passes ? I have been told that they do (by the rep) but am sceptical

Reps in the sense of "ski hosts"?
If TO rep isn't it std that they give you the pass.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

dsoutar, discounts are available for a whole season pass in most resorts especially if you buy before the season starts, but as fatbob, says, TOs should provide for their staff. Look at the resort website.

dsoutar, depends on the resort, the TO, and the duration of contract.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

They get one on beer. Punters have to pay tourist rates.

In France, at least, I would expect reps would be required by law to be provided with a lift-pass IF skiing is a required part of their job. I'm not sure about the employment law aspects in other countries.

Sorry - didn't make it clear - I meant will a rep be able to offer clients a discount, i.e. do they get a discount when they buy on behalf of the punters ?;
My youngest is a rep in resort and we are visiting her - she said she could get us a discount but I was sceptical.

Unlikely, most lift pass offices specifically forbid TOs from bulk selling lift passes at a discount unless as part of the LPOs own special offers. Occasionally TOs will discount prices as part of a special offer on booking or ski all in deal type of thing. The TO will of course buy the passes at a lower price than the public price but I doubt a rep will know the cost price or be authorised to discount it in resort.

dsoutar, generally no, but it depends on the TO and their contract with the lift company. Eg we used to get occasional discounted passes when I worked in Serre Chevalier, because we were obliged to buy a certain number each week and sometimes had a surplus.

That would explain the hard sell you always get from reps on the transfer coach to buy lift passes from them (I had always assumed it was just to do with the profit they made on the sale)
