Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

There's some fundamental flaws in it.
1: the point of the dynafit binding is to save weight. That becomes redundant if you're carrying an additional pair of toe-pieces
2: it doesn't do anything that the likes of the marker baron or even the newer diamir fritschi freeride bindings can do for less money.
3: if you want to switch bindings, why not quiver-killer the skis to accept both an alpine and touring bindings?
It's a clever idea, but I don't really see the point.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Oh true, I never thought of the fact that the heel of the binding, usually the heaviest part, would still be on the ski.
I presume as with the marker griffon/jester/squire etc, a lot of people don't trust them in comparison to other bindings? having never used any of the marker touring bindings I can't comment though.
True, but quiver killering while up the mountain I guess would be annoying as hell?

feef, the point of Dynafits is to save weight with each step - due to the lack of lifting the binding frame on each step. Even if you end up with a bit more weight overall (in your pack), it would still be more efficient than Dukes/Fritschis. It also lets you use full alpine (race) boots - not an issue for me, but could be for some of the real chargers. The main issue I see is the switchover - do you have to mess around with screwdrivers at the top of a cold windy mountain?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Quite, but isn't the saving of weight in the toe piece of a binding, adding more weight to the rucksack and then not saving weight in the boot either kinda missing the point? Bear in mind too, you may not be lifting the frame, but the alpine heel unit is still on there

You'll need to Register first of course.

But you're not lifting the heel unit each stride.

Haggis_Trap has a good explanation for what that lifted weight adds up to in a typical climb which we were discussing on Sunday. As it happens, all 4 of us were skiing Dynafit TLT's but managed to get away without any skinning by using hitch hikers thumbs.

Looks like it just clips in, I'd say you just have to push 2 buttons to pop it out.

Most people are overlooking that this is a system for people who want to tour up and then send it off 50-100ft cliffs. It's not a touring binding system as such but a binding system that lets you have confidence in your downhill gear by skiing in it whilst making the uphill much less painful. For most people this is completely pointless.
1kg on the feet is worth 10kg on the back is the old saying I remember. Also Dynafits have a much nicer stride to them.

Do I get this right that you switch binding toe pieces for ascent / descent?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

That is a nice solution to a problem that doesnt exist...
Simple fact is that Dynafit's ski downhill great.
Indeed Dynafit is arguably a much better interface to the ski than Marker Dukes - just not DIN rated.

Alpine Treker off ebay for £10 is a much simpler / robust solution for such antics.
