Very snowy foggy day in 3Vs on Friday
Stopped in Mottaret late morning for a coffee
Instead had something called "warm apple drink" or something non-descript like that
Menu said it was calvados, apple juice and "epices" (spices I guess)
Drink was warm, came in a glass tall coffee glass (like the old Irish coffee glasses) and tasted like liquid toffee apple, but not quite so sweet
It was honestly delicious and I would have this over mulled wine, gluhwein any day
So ... Who knows what the "epices" would be ?

Aha quarter epices sounds good, although cinnamon was probably in there
Off to Lidl this weekend for some calvados to give it a try while it is freezing in Wokingham and trying to snow

We often used to drink "Hot Spiced Apple" in the 8th-Day in Manchester.
I don't remember any alcohol content but there are plenty of recipies if you google.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

It is called Glühmöst over here and it is delicious, way better than Glühwein in my opinion. Comes from the Möstviertel in Lower Austria and a friend supplies me with mine directly from the producers. They also do a pear version I'm not so keen on.

Definitely sounds like Xante, apple juice with cinnamon, warmed. Very drinkable.
1 1/2 part(s) Xante Liqueur
3 part(s) Apple Cider or apple juice
1 stick(s) Cinnamon
Heat the apple juice together with the cinnamon stick. Add Xanté before serving. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

You know it makes sense.

Samerberg Sue, we had some home made Glühmöst in Kitzbühel, race night a few years ago that had a distinct blue cheese taste to it. It's not always delicious.

I wouldn't put ginger in this - too dominating. I sometimes make a version of this at home with hot apple juice, whole spices (cinnamon stick/bark, cloves and a piece of mace or nutmeg) with a shot of home-made quince vodka in it.
Ok just re-read that and it sounds a bit boastful.
Nice tho...

I'm with Kat.ryb on that.
British version would be some apple brandy, Pimms winter cup, decent scrumpy, apple juice and some spices as mentioned above. oooh... and maybe some Mead into the mix.

In that context it would be the spices that you use for Vin Chaud + maybe some add. cinnamon. You can get them in sachets in the supermarkets or in dunking nets like bouquet garni.
