Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

If you want a permanent reminder of an amazing hike, ski trip, or whatever else, here’s a good idea: a new website called The Terrainator lets you select your favourite geographical features and get ‘em 3D printed.
Dan Wilson, the man behind the project, explains how it came about:
I’ve had the good fortune to be able to visit some gorgeous places over the last few months, including Yosemite in California, and Tignes in the French Alps. Having been steeped in the world of 3D-printing at MakieLab last year, I naturally wondered whether I could make tiny scale models of these places to remember them by.
So… he decided to build a website to offer that exact service. You simply find the area you’re interested in on a Google Map, and then Wilson’s site creates a 3D model which can be printed for you.
There’s currently data available for the UK, the Alps and the western-half of the US, but Wilson says that more data is being added all the time — and he hopes to add “bigger prints, accurate colourisation buildings” in the future. Seems like the perfect gift for the outdoorsy types in your life.
