Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

An afternoon alone in St Anton

I'm off on a skiing jolly for a few days in St Anton at the end of March. Most of the time I think we'll be skiing as a group, and the plan is to meet the beginners' group for lunch, but on the first day I should be on the hill by 1pmish and I'll be on my own.

Where should I aim for for some fun - as I'll be on my own I don't want to stray too far off the beaten track, but if there's some in-bounds off-piste or some itinerary-type stuff to do, where/s the best place to aim for?

I think the hotel's down the Gampen/Galzig(?) lifts end of the town - it's on Dorfstrasse, so if anyone has some suggestions for a three or four hour blast that'd be great.

Clearly it all depends on conditions but I'd suggest turning left off the top of the Kappl chair, traversing across and then heading down from there or alternatively taking to Galzigbahn followed by the Valluga 1 and heading down Schindlergrat. Starting at 1pm you should be able to do both more than once.

Asdownhillalltheway says, it all depends on the conditions. The itinerary routes from either Kappl (Mattun) or from Schindergratbahn (Schindlerkar) are good recommendations in most conditions. If there is fresh powder, then head over to Rendl and take the chair lifts Riffel 1 and 2 to access skiroute R14 and the off-piste slopes down to Rendl. These, not too steep, slopes are good fun in powder, easily accessible and you are not isolated. Very Happy
