andy from embsay, Good choice - your mate however, is talking through his ar$e. There is a good variety for all abilities and if you and your mate are up to it hiring a guide is a good option, they will take you to areas that will test your abilities and believe me boredom is not a phrase that will come in to the equation. I have been to areas that are in no fall zones and quite often only a short hike from the piste. Blue and boring is not a good overall description of this area, I don't think you will be bored.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Plenty of blacks and challenging reds in Les Arcs. We spent a lot of time above Peisey-Vallandry, because there's some great tree runs.
La Plagne is not as bad as people make out either, I really like it.

snowball, loads if the weather is good. Our l3/4 lessons barely touched the piste a couple of years ago - pisteside open faces, little gullies and shortcuts. Under inversens lift in LP, plagnettes and grand col in LA for starters. Plus of course the natur pistes. Your mate could not be more wrong Andy - it's a fabulous area and as you get better it gets better/harder right with you. Never had a bad hol there (although do wish all the lifts weren't so inconveniently slightly-uphill...)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Les Arc is awesome . Try Mont Blanc for a brilliant blue. Malgovert for a great red, and bosses for a great black.

+1
As far as challenging pistes are concerned, I found the area far superior to 3V, lots of unpisted "Natur" runs, we did spend most time in the Les Arcs side of the area though.
The other thing about Paradiski area is that it appeared to be far better value for eating on the mountain than 3V, huge pizza for less than 10e, big bowlful of really meaty spag carbonara for 11e
The run from the top to Villaroger is also good for a mixed group as less able skiers can take the zig zag blue / red and the experts can just go "over the edge"
