Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Quiver Killers two mounting points?

Sometimes I want a center mounted binding, but usually I have rear/traditional mounted and I'm thinking that Jester 16's are a better binding than schizos...

Would it be ok to use quiver killers to have both center and rear mounted binding positions on the same pair of skis?

cran, no problem, I've done loads of 'em. As the Jester/Griffon has a rectangular toe mounting pattern I've done quite a few set-up's were the front two toe holes of the alpine mount become the front rear holes of the park mount. There's loads of clearance in the heel area for the four new inserts & but you only need two additional inserts up front & for most people that's far enough forward.

And it's a lot stronger set-up than the Schizo of which I've seen quite a few busted connecting cables etc.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

spyderjon, Thanks Cool

Are quiver killers common or will I need to hunt around for somewhere that can supply and fit them?

If I bought the inserts and took them to the shop, would it be fairly easy for them to fit them instead of mounting normally? Do they need different drill size?

I would come to Nottingham, but it's a long way away...

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

www.bindingfreedom.com have tutorials and will sell you inserts, though you'll pay transatlantic shipping on those. Have a look in spyderjon's signature line for another possibility a little closer, though I'm too lazy to find out if it is any cheaper!

Retrofitting an existing mount yourself is pretty straightforward. They're not noticably harder to install in a fresh mount than mounting any other binding, but whether you can find a shop to do it for you I've no idea. You could always man up and do the drilling yourself Toofy Grin

Serriadh, Sounds like the way to go Toofy Grin

I can get the bindings cheaper on line and the insert and fixing kits from Jon Cool

I do all the servicing myself so why not fit the bindings as well....

cran, I send loads of inserts to Switzerland. They're straightforward to DIY install, especially if you get a shop to pilot drill the holes for you using a conventional binding drill/jig etc. If you've not got a local store just let me know your BSL & I'll include a mounting template & an old binding drill so you can easily do that. I'll also preset the depth stop on the QK drill that's included in the DIY installation kit so, when combined with the pucka binding drill, there's no chance of you drilling right through!
