Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Very heavy kids skis

We rented skis for our toddler (for EsF nursery), they were really heavy. Too heavy for him to lift. Is this likely to be due to rental bindings? They were as heavy as my skis (ladies blizzards).
Would I be better buying him a pair for next year and would these be lighter? I've seen some kids skis with adjustable binding so they could last a couple of years, or would adjustable binding make them heavy?
He did have fun with his light weight plastic strap on skis, so the idea of skiing has gone down well.

Nixtoo, ...no they shouldn't be heavy at all. I have made up a range of skis for my two and if you use the right bindings (eg rossignol comp jnr or salomon 305) and carefully select the skis then they are very light indeed. I have two pairs of 92 cms for sale at present - a new pair of rossignol b1 with comp J bindings and some wedze also with comp Js. Both are extremely light setups and it's likely that you will use them for maybe two seasons and then sell them for what you paid for them. We have never rented kids skis for the very reason you outline and always ensured that they have very light setups - never any complaints from them and lots of obvious fun on such skis.
