Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi Guys
Am looking to go to one of these resorts next year in January. Trying to find out the local lift pass prices without having to pay for the whole SkiWelt pass ect.
The resorts are-
ELLMAU,
HINTERGLEMM,
MARIA ALM,
KAPRUN,
SCHLADMING
SERFAUS
ST JOHANN IN TIROL
WAGRAIN
WESTENDORF
Are there any links on the internet to find this information out. Some tour operators have them, but these seem to be ball park figures.
Many Thanks

matt23, You can get the Ski Amade ticket which covers some of the resorts you list; there are no other "local" tickets for e.g. Wagrain, Schladming - it's amade ticket or nothing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Similarly, I don't think you can buy a 'Westendorf' pass, I'm pretty sure you can only buy a SkiWelt pass. Equally for Hinterglemm, I think you have to buy the Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang Ski Circus pass, I don't think there's such a thing as a 'just Hinterglemm' pass. Again, pretty sure you have to get a Serfaus/Fiss/Ladis pass, not just a Serfaus one.

Hey!
If you were to choose Ellmau or Westendorf, you would be better off buying the SkiWelt lift pass as it covers both areas, aswell as Soll, Scheffau, Going, Hopfgarten and Itter. Everything is very easily linked via chairlifts which is why you will probably only be finding skiwelt prices. However you can get what they class a "learn to Ski" passes, but these are very very limited to the runs that are local to that village and only recommended for first time skiiers booked onto beginners ski school. Prices this season are €209.50 for a adult skiwelt pass which includes 279km of interlinked piste, whereas an adult learn to ski pass is €168 for about 13km of piste(based on Soll, two villages down from Ellmau) If you want more info on the SkiWelt area and the villages visit this website http://www.skiwelt.at/en/ If you want more info about the resorts themselves in the SkiWelt, let me know!

Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang 6-day pass was €209 this season (7th Jan - 25th Jan). The dates before 7th Jan and after 25th Jan fell into high season and would have cost you €220 for 6 days. There is no pass for just Hinterglemm.

It was my second ever ski holiday this year in St Johann and we got the All Star Pass for €232. The busses and trains were so good we went to Fieberbrun, Steinplatte, Kitzbuhel, Brixen/Ellmau/Soll etc, and St Johann of course. It was brilliant to return to Soll where I could attempt the black at the top of Hohe Salve that I saw every day in Ski school last year!

216 euros for 6 days at Kaprun (zell am see). Quite expensive for the limited skiing of the resort.

For St. Johann in Tirol you can only get a local pass for one or two days. After that you have to buy the Schneewinkel card or one for an even larger area (probably the Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard mentioned by -chris- is best if you don't have your own transport). Price details here.

Have you thought about getting an hourly ticket instead, it might workout cheaper if you only want to ski for 2 hours then chill out in the bar

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

You can get a points based card in Ski Amade so you buy chunks of 400 points and it deducts points when you use lifts.
17 points for a drag lift, 70 for a main gondola I think.
Works out well for learners in ski school.
I can highly recommend Maria Alm

Hi Guys
Thanks for the reply's all good to know. It seems there isn't a local ski pass for these areas unlike Niederau which I guess is more isolated as a ski resort.
However some are quite close together which would be good for visiting a few without a car as trains and the ski lift infer structure seem to be really good.
Does anyone have any favorites from the list above. Don't want to go to a resort where you are having to take the bus to the slopes and somewhere that isn't too quiet in the evenings
ng88, will pm you about skiwelt resorts
ColP, how does one get to Maria Alm doing DIY
