Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Craghoppers soft shell. Any body got one, any good?

The satoru windstopper soft shell is currently on sale with 50% off and I was thinking of buying as a general purpose jacket and maybe for spring skiing and camping. Does any body have any experience of this particular item or Craghoppers gear in general?

Cheers

While I don't have any jackets from Craghoppers, I have several pairs of their cargo trousers (lined and unlined) for work and a couple of their fleeces. They are exceptional quality, lightweight and comfortable (and dry out quickly, which is particularly useful when working outdoors in the UK!).
I reckon their products are pretty good value for money - might go and have a look at their sale as well!

Hope this helps

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

HossDoc, Cheers. It seems to be pretty good quality. On sale in Debenhams too and I have a discount voucher which would bring the cost down from an rrp of around £125 to about £50.

I don't rate windstopper very highly... it is much less breathable than any non-membrane softshell but also less weatherproof than a proper shell. It works best in cold, windy conditions... great for snowy mountains, not quite so much for soggy hills.

Pretty good price though.

Serriadh, Yeah the spec says water resistant so I wouldn't expect to stay dry in a downpour or Lake District Drizzle. I guess the breathability or lack of could be an issue too as it'd be pretty uncomfortable getting all sweaty on the inside with limited opportuity for wicking it away Sad
