Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pyrennes 2/3/13. Staying off the mountain and travelling up each day

Hello All
Bit of an odd one and not sure if anyone can help without a Deloreon and a flux capaciter.

I am thinking of driving down to a town in the Pyrennes , maybe Lourdes on the 2nd March.
Looking for something different to mega resorts in the Alps , somewhere with trees and characteur.

I forsee 2 main problems

Firstly , its Paris and Bordeaux holidays , and Boardeaux is quite close , so it might be very busy

Secondly It might not snow again despite previous snowfalls and when we get there we will be met with hard packed snow and no off piste

I like the idea of a drive up early in the morning , explore somewhere different all day then return to a town for the evening. Repeat the next day and so on .

The thought of queues and no powder put me off more than the 1000km drive tbh.

Anyone have any expereince of the pyrenees in french school holiday times, plus spring skiing ?

Or would i be better of just fronting the cash for Austria / swiss last minute deal?

I'd be amazed if the snow melts so quickly between now and then that there's 'no offpiste,' obviously powder is far from guaranteed though. Later you can leave the decision the better, really.
